Job description

Quality Assurance Technician

Our client, a major fishing and seafood processing company, is seeking a Quality Assurance Technician for their Cape May and/or Bridgeton, NJ facilities to ensure that all seafood products meet company quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations. This role involves performing routine quality inspections, collecting production data, completing detailed reportsโ€”primarily in Excelโ€”and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the production area.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Control & Product Inspection

  • Conduct daily quality assurance checks on seafood products to verify compliance with safety, freshness, and specification requirements.
  • Inspect raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods for quality defects or deviations.
  • Monitor critical control points (CCPs) and ensure compliance with HACCP, GMP, and other food safety programs.
  • Report any non-conformances immediately and assist in corrective actions.

Data Collection & Documentation

  • Collect and record data from the production area, including temperatures, weights, product conditions, and process observations.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections and test results in accordance with internal procedures.
  • Communicate findings with production supervisors, QA management, and relevant departments.

Reporting & Excel Documentation

  • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly QA reports using Excel.
  • Organize and analyze quality data to identify trends, deviations, or potential issues.
  • Ensure reports are accurate, complete, and submitted on time.

Compliance & Food Safety

  • Support food safety programs, audits, and regulatory inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal seafood processing regulations.
  • Follow all sanitation, safety, and hygiene procedures.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Work closely with production teams to ensure quality standards are met throughout all stages of processing.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures.
  • Experience with Excel (data entry, basic formulas, tables).
  • Ability to work in cold or wet production environments common in seafood processing facilities.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 30 lbs., and be comfortable working in refrigerated environments.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in quality assurance or food manufacturing (seafood industry experience is a plus).
  • Knowledge of GMP and food safety regulations.
