Senior Bankruptcy Litigator – Debtor Representation

New York, NY & White Plains, NY

About the Role

The Senior Bankruptcy Litigator will represent debtors and stakeholders in complex restructurings, Chapter 11 proceedings, adversary litigation, workouts, and financially distressed matters across federal and state courts. This role requires deep experience navigating high-pressure insolvency environments, developing restructuring strategy, and litigating contested matters in Bankruptcy Court.

The practice handles a full spectrum of financially distressed situations requiring negotiation, restructuring finesse, or aggressive litigation strategy depending on the dynamics of the case.

Responsibilities
  • Represent debtors in Chapter 11 and other restructuring proceedings
  • Handle adversary proceedings, contested matters, and complex motion practice
  • Draft and argue motions related to automatic stay, DIP financing, cash collateral, claim objections, and plan confirmation
  • Develop restructuring and litigation strategies tailored to evolving financial dynamics
  • Conduct depositions, evidentiary hearings, and court appearances in Bankruptcy Court and District Court
  • Negotiate with creditors, trustees, and stakeholders in restructuring matters
  • Advise clients on insolvency exposure, asset protection strategies, and restructuring alternatives
  • Coordinate with financial advisors, turnaround consultants, and valuation experts
  • Manage matters across SDNY and EDNY Bankruptcy Courts
Qualifications
  • Active membership in good standing with the New York State Bar
  • 8+ years of bankruptcy and restructuring litigation experience
  • Significant debtor-side Chapter 11 experience
  • Strong adversary proceeding and motion practice background
  • Experience practicing in SDNY and EDNY Bankruptcy Courts preferred
  • Strategic thinker capable of balancing negotiation and aggressive litigation
  • Excellent drafting and courtroom advocacy skills
