1:1PT RATIO MUST HAVE EMT CERT WITHIN 90 DAYS OF HIRE Overnight
Hiring for nights, overnights and weekends
SUMMARY: The SCT Nurse transports patients to various appointments, hospitals, schools, and facilities. He/she is responsible for the safety and well-being of clients during transportation to their destination. The SCT Nurse will comply with all state, local, and company policies and procedures applicable to his or her scope of practice.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
  • Be familiar with company policies/standards and always drive in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Project a professional image and attitude when interacting with clients, the public and fellow employees.
  • Perform SCT related procedures under Department of Health regulations.
  • Inspect and report any vehicle damage or malfunction.
  • Ensure that all ALS equipment is operating properly and the assigned medical bag is fully stocked with no expired medications present.
  • Perform resuscitation, as necessary. Immediately advise dispatch of any medical or nonmedical emergencies or incidents involving patients, and other passengers.
  • Be responsible for assigned equipment. Must inspect all equipment and report any malfunctions.
  • Perform systematic examination and interview of patient.
  • Obtain patient history and necessary medical records for patient transfer.
  • Initiate and/or continue therapeutic modalities within a nurse's scope of practice as ordered by a physician through direct or indirect communication.
  • Utilize all equipment and medications necessary on the SCTU, including intra-aortic balloon pumping.
  • Manage patient's airway, utilize IV pumps, and ventilators and monitoring devices, as necessary for patient care.
  • Accompany the patient and maintain care during transport to the hospital.
  • Provide verbal report to the receiving health care personnel.
  • Complete all necessary authorizations and the SCTU patient care report.
  • Report all field incidents, accidents, problems, and non-routine situations that have arisen to dispatchers, supervisors, or managers on daily basis.
  • Ensure that minors are left with approved guardians.
  • Perform patient lifting and transferring of necessary equipment as transport requires.
  • Practice safety at all times when handling patients and ambulance equipment.
  • Move patients in a safe manner particularly when moving up and down stairs.
  • Wear seat belt at all times when operating company vehicles and require clients to do the same.
  • Ensure that restraints are properly secured to the stretcher, and that the stretcher is properly secured to the vehicle.
  • Be familiar with safe lifting and moving techniques and be physically/mentally fit for performance of job duties.
  • Be familiar with proper use of all vehicle safety equipment (i.e. balloon pumps, IVs, cardiac monitors, fire extinguisher. etc.).
  • Be familiar with all company forms related to SCT, and their purposes. Fill them out properly, and acquire corresponding signatures.
  • Adhere to SCT-nurse dress code and personal appearance policies.
  • Have a working knowledge of the company communication systems and communication policies and procedures.
  • Be familiar with and comply with rules at major receiving client/facility locations.
  • Assume responsibility for cleanliness of vehicle on a daily basis. Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspection.
  • Make sure that all utilized equipment is replaced at the end of shift, including the replacement of oxygen tanks.
  • Remain in close contact with dispatch, updating them on vehicle location and patient information.
  • Maintain order on the vehicle.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Must successfully complete the company's orientation and training.
  • Must submit to and successfully pass State criminal history review, and drug and alcohol testing program.
  • Position requires Logisticare approval as a condition of employment.
  • Must have a mimimum of 2 years experience working in ICU, CCU or ED.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Valid NJ RN License and one year of critical care experience.
Position requires the following certifications: HCP CPR, ACLS and PALS.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to clients, facility representatives, and other employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY:
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to read maps and navigate directions.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
  • Valid NJ RN License.
  • Position requires the following certifications: HCP CPR, ACLS and PALS.
  • Valid NJ Driver License in good standing, EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) within 6 months of hire.
  • Will need to complete Defensive Driving Course.

IMMUNIZATIONS, VACCINATIONS: PPD - 2 Step, other vaccinations required by Facility.

Pay Transparency:
The above reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey.

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidateโ€™s educational background, skills, and professional experience.

In addition to base salary, this position may be eligible for clinical certification pay and/or shift differentials.
