What is a script assistant?

Script Assistants are professionals who support scriptwriters and production teams in the film, television, or theater industries. They are responsible for tasks such as organizing scripts, taking notes during meetings, managing script revisions, and ensuring that all changes are accurately tracked and distributed. Script Assistants also coordinate communication between writers, directors, and other crew members to help keep the production process running smoothly. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and an understanding of the script development process.

What are the main responsibilities of a script assistant during a film or television production?

As a Script Assistant, your primary responsibilities include tracking script changes, ensuring continuity, and supporting the script supervisor in preparing daily reports. You'll also distribute updated scripts to cast and crew, annotate scripts with notes from rehearsals or shoots, and help manage script-related paperwork. This role requires close collaboration with directors, writers, and production teams, making strong organizational skills and attention to detail essential.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a script assistant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Script Assistant, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of script formatting and production processes, often supported by a background in film, television, or media studies. Familiarity with industry-standard scriptwriting software such as Final Draft or Celtx and proficiency in tracking revisions and script notes are typically required. Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving abilities help you collaborate effectively and adapt to fast-paced production environments. These skills and qualities are crucial for ensuring script continuity, accuracy, and smooth workflow throughout the production process.

Job description

Who you are:

We are seeking a Mid-Level ServiceNow Developer to support the design, configuration, and development of applications and workflows on the ServiceNow platform. The ideal candidate has solid hands-on experience developing with ServiceNow, embraces AI-assisted and AI-driven development practices, can work from moderately defined requirements, and delivers reliable, maintainable solutions following platform best practices. This role supports application development, enhancement, troubleshooting, and integration work as part of an agile team.

What you do:

  • Design, develop, and configure custom applications, workflows, UI components, and platform features within ServiceNow.
  • Build and modify Script Includes, Business Rules, UI Actions, Client Scripts, data policies, Flow Designer flows, and related components.
  • Leverage AI tools and large language models (LLMs) - such as GitHub Copilot, Codex, ChatGPT, and Claude - to accelerate development, improve code quality, generate boilerplate scripts, and troubleshoot platform issues faster.
  • Use AI-assisted development techniques to auto-generate ServiceNow scripts, Flow Designer logic, and integration payloads from plain-language requirements.
  • Build and configure ServiceNow Now Assist features, including generative AI-powered Virtual Agent conversations, AI Search, and Predictive Intelligence models. Integrate external AI/ML APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Google Gemini) into ServiceNow workflows via Integration Hub or REST APIs to enable intelligent automation.
  • Design and implement prompt engineering strategies within ServiceNow's Now Assist and Virtual Agent frameworks to produce accurate, context-aware AI responses.
  • Support the development of AI-enhanced ITSM capabilities such as auto-classification of incidents, intelligent ticket routing, and anomaly detection using ServiceNow's ML plugin.
  • Write unit tests and assist in developing automated test suites using ServiceNow ATF.
  • Build and maintain integrations using REST/SOAP APIs, and troubleshoot integration issues with assistance from senior team members.
  • Work on defect resolution, enhancements, and operational support needs.
  • Partner with business analysts, testers, and senior developers to interpret requirements and translate them into working solutions.
  • Stay current with ServiceNow platform releases, Now Assist updates, and the evolving AI/ML landscape as it applies to enterprise service management.

What you need:

  • 3+ years of software development experience.
  • 2+ years hands-on development experience on the ServiceNow platform.
  • Strong proficiency with JavaScript and familiarity with ServiceNow's server/client scripting model.
  • Demonstrated experience using AI coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, Codex, or similar) to accelerate and improve development work.
  • Working knowledge of AI/ML concepts including prompt engineering, LLM APIs, and automation techniques applicable to the ServiceNow platform.
  • Hands-on experience with ServiceNow's AI/ML capabilities - including Virtual Agent, Predictive Intelligence, Now Assist, or AI Search - is strongly desired.
  • Experience with ServiceNow ATF or other automated testing approaches.
  • Ability to interpret functional requirements and turn them into technical specifications and working features.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA).
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or another technical field - or equivalent experience.

Nice to have:

  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD).
  • ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) in ITSM, ITOM, or a related domain.
  • Experience integrating OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, or other LLM APIs with enterprise platforms.
  • Familiarity with RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) patterns for grounding AI responses in organizational data.
  • Experience with Python or other scripting languages for AI/ML pipeline support.
  • Exposure to ServiceNow Now Assist configuration, skill building, or generative AI feature rollout.
  • Master's degree in a technical field (preferred but not required).
