Job description

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) is seeking a highly motivated Systems Analyst to support IT operations within a local operational boundary consisting of interconnected systems and standalone devices in the Component & Chemistry Technology - Chemistry Technology organization located at Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory in West Mifflin, PA. This organization supports the development and sustainment of automated chemistry equipment used at the laboratory and in the fleet. The Systems Analyst will provide system configuration, administration, compliance, maintenance, troubleshooting, and technical documentation support in a Windows-based environment. The selected candidate will work with tools and technologies such as Group Policy, HBSS/ESS, endpoint security and compliance tools, engineering software, firewalls, system utilities, and hardware platforms. This role requires strong technical troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain stable, secure, and compliant systems supporting critical operations. Responsibilities * Administer, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows operating systems and associated infrastructure. * Manage Group Policy Objects, host-based firewalls, endpoint security tools, and system compliance utilities to ensure consistent system configuration. * Support HBSS/ESS or similar host-level security and compliance platforms. * Perform system patching, updates, vulnerability remediation, and baseline enforcement activities. * Support standalone, isolated, segmented, and boundary-specific workstations and devices. * Conduct hardware and software compliance checks, certification reviews, and configuration baseline assessments. * Troubleshoot issues related to operating systems, applications, system utilities, engineering software, and hardware. * Coordinate with engineering, development, and technical personnel to resolve system issues and support operational needs. * Perform workflow analysis, document test results, and develop or update Standard Operating Procedures. * Participate in projects to deploy, upgrade, or enhance infrastructure, applications, and system components. * Support implementation of application and systems solutions while ensuring functional, technical, and security requirements are met. * Prepare and maintain technical documentation, system configuration records, test summaries, and automation scripts or utilities. * Provide subject matter expertise on system configuration, compliance, and operational processes across the local boundary. * Prioritize multiple tasks and projects, adjust work plans as needed, and integrate responsibilities across organizational and site priorities. * Support the reliability, readiness, and compliance of systems that enable critical chemistry technology operations. Qualifications * Must have active DOE Q clearance or a DoD secret clearance to be considered
* Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and at least 5 years of relevant experience; or a master's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and at least 3 years of relevant experience. * Experience administering, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Windows operating systems. * Experience managing Group Policy Objects, host-based firewalls, and endpoint compliance tools. * Knowledge of HBSS/ESS or similar host-level security and compliance platforms. * Experience performing system patching, updates, vulnerability remediation, and compliance activities. * Experience supporting standalone, isolated, segmented, or boundary-specific systems and devices. * Experience conducting hardware/software compliance checks, certification reviews, and baseline enforcement. * Ability to troubleshoot operating system, application, utility, and system configuration issues. * Experience developing or maintaining technical documentation, SOPs, test results, system configurations, or automation scripts. * Understanding of system architectures and operational IT environments. * Ability to support multiple tasks and projects, adapt to changing priorities, and deliver work in support of organizational requirements. * Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Desired * Knowledge of Cisco network hardware. * Experience installing, configuring, and managing VMware virtual systems. * Vulnerability management experience. * Experience creating and maintaining PowerShell scripts. * Basic proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language; LabVIEW experience is preferred for understanding and support purposes. * Experience with Windows system hardening, Group Policy, system compliance assessments, patch management, and host-based firewalls. * Experience supporting standalone, isolated, or segmented network environments. * Experience supporting hardware/software certification reviews or baseline compliance checks. * Technical writing experience, including SOPs, system documentation, and test result summaries. * Project management experience. * Strong problem-solving skills, positive attitude, strong teaming background, work ethic, and desire to learn. Pay Scale: * 5-9 years of experience - $120,000-$127,000
