Job description

Scripps Mercy Hospital has served central and downtown San Diego since 1890 and is the oldest medical center in the county. The San Diego campus is located near the corner of 5th Avenue and Washington Street in Hillcrest.

Scripps Mercy Hospital consists of two campuses in San Diego and Chula Vista. 

Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego’s campus includes the O’Toole Breast Care Center, a 24-hour emergency room that is a Level I Trauma Center, outpatient physical rehabilitation, minimally invasive robotic surgery and our childbirth unit (including a Level II neonatal intensive care unit).

This is a part-time non-benefited (24 hours per pay period) position working 8-hour shifts on various days of the week. Position requires weekend and holidays as needed.

Shifts may start at 6am, 7am, and/or 8am.

Position is located at Scripps Mercy San Diego and requires floating to Mercy Chula Vista as needed.

We invite you to join our highly engaged team of EKG Technicians.

As an EKG Tech, you will…

·         Performs EKGs for outpatients and inpatients in the following areas: 5W, 5E, x-ray, Endoscopy, McDonald Center, and Nursery, and collects all in house EKGs.

·         Does charges for all EKGs, maintains records, ensures physician reading and reports.

·         Performs all treadmills (Exercise treadmill, Lexi-Scan, Myoview, etc.)

·         Sets up and maintains Holter & Event monitors and records.  

·         Troubleshoots all EKG related problems in house.

·         Does training for EKG competency.

·         Demonstrates ability to perform competencies as outlined in CVL Competency Assessment tools.

·         Demonstrates age-specific care as established for area and job title.

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:

  • 6 months experience performing 12 lead EKG's
  • 4-6 months experience performing Stress Testing.
  • Basic EKG training is required

Required Certification/Registration:

  • Current BLS from American Heart Association required.
  • Telemetry and EKG Training Certified

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:

  • National EKG Registry is preferred
  • National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
