The Position:
As an Ophthalmic Technician at Panorama Eyecare, you will play a pivotal role in our mission to deliver the best eyecare. The Role
Our Technicians are medical professionals who are responsible for the management and well-being of the ophthalmic patients. The technicians will assist in all aspects and functions of the assigned patient care area, efficiently and accurately perform ophthalmic testing, and provide comprehensive education. The focus of this position is to ensure that the ophthalmic patient, physician, and clinical team experience a positive outcome that exemplifies fulfillment of the mission statement at Panorama Eyecare.
  • Level I (0-1 years of experience)- Entry-level technicians with experience in an Ophthalmology or Optometry clinic (or similar setting). Preferred skills include: experience with patient-facing care, high level of customer service, and technician skills such as checking patient vision, pressure, and obtaining diagnostic imaging.

  • Level II (1-4 years of experience)- Technicians with intermediate clinical experience and a solid understanding of ocular anatomy. Preferred skills include: experience with patient-facing care, high level of customer service, and technician skills such as checking patient vision, pressure, manifest refraction, lensometry, scribing, experience setting up for in-office ocular procedures, and diagnostic imaging (OCT, Fundus, Topography, Pachymetry, Visual Field, IOL master, emersion).

  • Level III (5+ years of experience)- Advanced technicians with extensive experience working alongside Ophthalmologists and Optometrists. Strong knowledge of ocular anatomy and pathology. Preferred skills include: checking patient vision, pressure, manifest refraction, Contact lens I&R, prism experience, post-refractive care, including assisting in LAL adjustments, experience in setting up for in-office ocular procedures, scribing, lensometry, diagnostic imaging (OCT, Fundus, Topography, Pachymetry, Visual Field, IOL master, emersion).

  • Patient intake and workup, following standardized protocol.
  • Ophthalmic diagnostic testing.
  • Patient counseling and education as needed.
  • Awareness of patient flow issues and ability to maintain efficient clinical flow.
  • Updates daily schedule by assessing no-shows and add-ins.
  • Scribes in a rotational pattern.
  • Answers and returns phone calls and writes scripts as requested by physicians and other departments.
  • Stocking and cleaning clinic as needed.
  • Facilitates patient experience by assisting physician in overall patient care.
  • Works within the confines of the Eye Center team by assisting other departments with answers to questions, patient triage, etc.
  • Self-study is required to obtain/maintain ophthalmic technician certification within 18 months of employment.
  • Maintains a professional demeanor, including dress and work conversation.
  • Understands and solves patient complaints.
  • Maintains effective working relationships with other staff and doctors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Prior experience in a fast-paced medical office and in electronic health record is preferred.

  • This is a Full Time Position.
  • This position offers a full wage range based on experience, certifications, and demonstrated skills. Final pay will be determined through our skills assessment process:
  • Bronze: $19.50-$22.88
  • Silver: $22.89-$26.27
  • Gold: $26.28-$29.66
  • Diamond: $29.67-$33.00
