Job description


This is a production-focused print shop position and is not a marketing or graphic design role.
The Print Shop Production Technician is a supportive role to the current digital printing and wide-format production environment. The position is responsible for completing assigned tasks in order to fulfill the daily production workload of print requests. The position reads and follows written work orders, locates stock in a warehouse environment, and stock/paper handling as required for digital and wide format printing. The position utilizes digital printing presses per an established PDF workflow, upholding production standards through bindery/finishing/manufacturing production and utilizes paper scoring, cutting, padding, jogging, folding and drilling machines appropriate per the required task. The Print Shop Production Technician is responsible for wide format finishing including trimming, cutting, paper and vinyl output, banners, laminating, mounting on various substrates and packaging finished products for delivery to fill print requests.
Responsibilities
  • Accurately and efficiently prepares stock for orders based on daily task list.
  • Routes and processes Print Shop requests.
  • Reports supply and stock levels in an efficient and organized process.
  • Maintains equipment, cleanliness, and organization of press room/bindery room as a safe and clean working environment by complying with corporate safety rules, procedures, and regulations. Ensures safe operation and maintenance, notifying Manager of possibly repair needs as needed to optimize production time.
  • Follows workflow automation and printing direction per work orders, with detailed attention given to various paper stocks, determining correct printing position, and maintaining color/image quality associated with corporate branding standards.
  • Performs Quality Control (QC) procedures on completed print products to meet organization standards.
  • Performs bindery functions including jogging, padding, cutting, perforating, folding, collating, stapling and drilling.
  • Operates and monitors performance on all sign finishing equipment including laminating, cutting, mounting and wrapping and packaging.
  • Serves as a back up to mail handler as needed.
  • Maintains valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.

Qualifications
Minimum Education
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required

Minimum Work Experience
  • 6 months Print Shop experience, vocational training or apprenticeship Preferred
