Description

This role is a 2nd shift position, working 2-10pm with a shift differential.  


Summary

The Digital & Inserter Operator plays a critical role within the Direct Mail team, supporting the production of secure, high-volume mailing projects. This position is responsible for the setup, operation, and monitoring of variable sheet inserting equipment with integrated camera tracking systems, as well as supporting associated digital print processes.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong working knowledge of USPS mail preparation standards and demonstrate a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Given the nature of the work-including 100% verification requirements and tight production timelines-this role requires a commitment to quality, precision, and operational efficiency.


Essential Job Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities 

  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot inserting equipment, camera verification systems, and associated digital printers 
  • Review and interpret job tickets to accurately prepare and execute production jobs 
  • Complete required setup checklists for each job and obtain appropriate approvals prior to production 
  • Monitor and ensure quality standards are met, including barcode accuracy and print/image clarity in compliance with postal      specifications 
  • Apply knowledge of USPS mail preparation requirements, including sortation, traying, and palletizing according to mail class      standards 
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment on a scheduled basis 
  • Ensure accuracy of product counts and maintain accountability for overall quality and customer expectations 
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in alignment with company standards 
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational needs

Requirements

Required Skills and Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required, or equivalent combination of industry-related experience and training

Minimum of two (2) years of print and/or mailing industry experience

Demonstrated ability to perform basic math functions, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals

Ability to accurately read and measure using a ruler

Demonstrates basic computer literacy, including the ability to navigate operating systems and perform routine data entry tasks with accuracy

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to accurately interpret job instructions

Ability to interact professionally with customers and internal team members

High attention to detail with a commitment to producing quality work

Demonstrated sound judgment, dependability, and strong organizational work habits

Experience operating variable sheet inserter equipment, preferred

Familiarity with 100% camera verification systems, preferred

Working knowledge of digital press operations, preferred

Experience with Pace/EFI Production System or similar production software, preferred
