They often supervise a team of scouts, set scouting strategies, and work closely with coaches and general managers to build a competitive roster.

Job description

About böhme
Böhme is a fast-growing, fashion-forward women's apparel brand with a strong retail
footprint and expanding eCommerce business. Built by founders with a strong point of
view and deep customer connection, the brand has historically partnered with overseas
vendors to bring product to life.
This is a unique opportunity to step into a highly entrepreneurial environment and build
the design function from the ground up.
The Role
We're looking for an Art Director to own the visual voice of böhme across every place a customer meets the brand - photography, video, web, email, social, paid media, packaging, and in-store. You'll set the creative bar, lead a team of designers, photographers, and stylists, and translate seasonal collections into campaigns that feel current, feminine, and unmistakably böhme. This is a hands-on leadership role: you'll be in the room directing shoots, in the file giving feedback on layouts, and at the table helping shape brand strategy.
What You'll Do
• Define and evolve böhme's visual identity - art direction, photography style, typography, color, and tone - across all channels.
• Lead seasonal campaign concepting from mood board through final delivery, partnering with merchandising and marketing on the story behind each drop.
• Art direct on-figure, on-model, and lifestyle photo and video shoots, including casting, location scouting, styling direction, and on-set creative calls.
• Manage and mentor an in-house creative team of designers, photographers, retouchers, and content producers; give clear, constructive feedback that raises the work.
• Own the creative review process - from briefs to final approvals - ensuring everything that ships meets the brand standard and on-brand expectations.
• Collaborate with the e-commerce and performance marketing teams to design assets that convert: PDPs, landing pages, email flows, and paid social creative.
• Partner with the retail team on in-store visuals, signage, window concepts, and new store openings so the physical experience matches the digital one.
• Stay ahead of trends in fashion, photography, social content, and digital design; bring fresh references and points of view into the work.
• Manage external partners - photographers, agencies, freelancers, print vendors - including sourcing, contracts, budgets, and timelines.
• Help define and steward brand guidelines, ensuring consistency as the team and channel mix grow.
What You Bring
• 7+ years of design and art direction experience, with at least 2-3 years leading a creative team - ideally for a fashion, lifestyle, or DTC brand.
• A portfolio that shows strong fashion sensibility: editorial photo direction, considered typography, refined layouts, and campaigns that feel cohesive across channels.
• Deep experience art directing photo and video shoots from pre-pro through final delivery.
• Expert command of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Figma; comfortable in Premiere or After Effects, or working closely with motion designers.
• A working understanding of e-commerce and performance creative - you know what makes a hero image stop a scroll and what makes a PDP convert.
• Strong project management instincts: you can run multiple campaigns, channels, and deadlines without dropping the creative bar.
• Excellent communication and feedback skills; you can articulate why something is working (or isn't) and bring people along with the vision.
• Genuine interest in women's fashion, retail, and the böhme customer.
Nice to Have
• Experience launching or refreshing a brand identity system.
• Background in retail or in-store visual merchandising.
• Familiarity with Shopify and email platforms like Klaviyo.
• Styling experience or a strong network of stylists, photographers, and models.
Why böhme
• Direct partnership with our founders and senior leaders - your work is seen, discussed, and shipped.
• A growing, founder-led brand with real momentum across digital and retail.
• A team-first culture that has been voted a Top Workplace year after year.
• Competitive salary, generous employee discount, health benefits, paid time off, and 401(k) with an employer match.
