**HIRING FOR THE 2026-2027 SEASON**

Position Type: Extra Duty

Pay Range - As per the RE-1 Valley Schools Extra Duty Salary Schedule to be adopted June 16, 2026

Anticipated Seasonal stipend $2500 (depending on experience)
Supervisor: Principal and Athletic Director
 


Position Summary

Re-1 Valley School District is seeking an enthusiastic and student-focused Assistant Volleyball Coach to support the high school volleyball program. The Assistant Coach will work collaboratively with the Head Coach and other assistant coaches to develop student-athletes' skills, promote sportsmanship, and foster a positive team culture that supports both athletic and academic success.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to mentoring students, teaching volleyball fundamentals, and contributing to a program that reflects the values of the school and community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Coaching and Player Development

  • Assist with planning and conducting practices that focus on skill development, conditioning, teamwork, and game preparation.
  • Teach proper volleyball fundamentals and techniques.
  • Assist with game strategy, scouting, and player development.
  • Provide encouragement, instruction, and constructive feedback to student-athletes.
  • Support the development of leadership, discipline, and sportsmanship among team members.

Student-Athlete Support

  • Promote academic success and monitor athlete eligibility requirements.
  • Serve as a positive role model and mentor for student-athletes.
  • Encourage respect, responsibility, and teamwork.
  • Help maintain a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.

Program Support

  • Assist with supervision of athletes during practices, contests, travel, and team activities.
  • Support team logistics including equipment management, uniforms, and game-day responsibilities.
  • Assist with program communications as directed by the Head Coach.
  • Participate in youth and feeder program activities when appropriate.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Work collaboratively with the Head Coach and athletic department.
  • Maintain positive relationships with parents, staff, officials, and community members.
  • Attend coaches' meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities as required.
  • Support district and athletic department goals and expectations.

Compliance and Safety

  • Follow all district policies, athletic department procedures, and CHSAA regulations.
  • Maintain required coaching certifications and trainings.
  • Ensure proper supervision and safety of student-athletes.
  • Report injuries, incidents, and concerns according to district procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous volleyball coaching or related experience preferred.
  • Experience working with middle school and/or high school students preferred.
  • Knowledge of volleyball fundamentals, safety standards, and team development.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, parents, staff, and administration.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to serve as a positive role model for student-athletes.
  • Hold or be willing to obtain:
    • CHSAA Coaching Certification
    • CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Ability to follow district policies and CHSAA regulations.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of volleyball techniques, safety expectations, and program management.
  • Ability to motivate and mentor student-athletes.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, coaches, and school personnel.
  • Commitment to professionalism, dependability, and student safety.
