Protech Solutions is a research and development software firm providing resources and software solutions to state government agencies. We have developed an application in use by the States of Arkansas, New Jersey, Delaware, Iowa, Virginia, Mississippi, Michigan, and Massachusetts. We are seeking a talented, knowledgeable, ambitious, and flexible Systems/Network Administrator to help maintain the our Headquarters network and systems as well as to work on projects as they arise suggesting and implementing changes and enhancements.

Responsibilities Provides network design, recommendations, implementation assistance Serves as technical advisor Responsibility for training, instruction, setting the work pace, and possibly evaluating performance. Interpret and/or discuss information with others, which involves terminology or concepts not familiar to many people Regularly provide advice and recommend actions involving rather complex issues. May resolve problems within established practices.

Deal with a variety of problems and sometimes decide which answer is best. The question/issues are typically clear and require determination of which answer (from a few choices) is the best. Analyzes performance and tunes applications for optimal use Performs capacity analysis and planning Maintains databases Performs operating system maintenance and updates including system configuration and troubleshooting.

Monitors performance to identify and resolve system infrastructure problems. Establishes system specifications by conferring with users; analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements; designing system infrastructure. Establishes system by planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of PC and server hardware, software, LAN and WAN networks, and operating and system management systems; defining system and operational policies and procedures.

Maintains system performance by performing system monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting system hardware, software, networks and operating and system management systems; designing and running system load/stress testing; escalating application problems to vendor. Secures system by developing system access, monitoring, control, and evaluation; establishing and testing disaster recovery policies and procedures; completing back-ups; maintaining documentation. Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Other duties may include scripting or light programming, project management for systems-related projects, supervising or training computer operators Assists project teams with technical issues in the Initiation and Planning phases of our standard Project Management Methodology. These activities include Definition of needs, benefits, and technical strategy Research and development within the project life-cycle Technical analysis and design Support of operations staff in executing, testing and rolling-out the solutions Participation on projects is focused on smoothing the transition of projects from development staff to production staff by performing operations activities within the project life-cycle. Responsibilities sometimes require working evenings and weekends, sometimes with little advanced notice.

Experience 5-7 years experience as a Systems/Network Administrator Experience supporting MS Server 2008/2008R2/2012 Experience supporting Microsoft Exchange Server 2003/2010/2013 Experience using backup tools like Symantec and Microsoft DPM Active directory and group policy knowledge Working knowledge of SCCM/SCOM/SCSM Microsoft IIS 7.0/7.5 server administration Antivirus software knowledge Knowledge of network devices i.e switches routers and firewalls Demonstrated experience with database design and system analysis, current RDBM systems such as Oracle, DB2, SQL server, Sybase, or Informix, and data access/query languages Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 4-6 years experience Bonus: Systems Administration/System Engineer certification in Unix and Microsoft.
