Job description

Position Summary:
  • Under the supervision of the Transportation Supervisor, transport guests of the Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort to the Slot Palace, Soaring Eagle Resort, Casino, Mount Pleasant Airport, Tribal campgrounds, and any other locations deemed necessary. Provide transportation service for entertainers and tribal entities as required and approved by management. Drive a shuttle bus, SECR vehicles, or golf carts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Arrive on-time and in uniform to the Keybooth.
  • Attend daily pre-shift meeting to become informed of daily activities and special events and receive daily work logs, and informational guides, etc.
  • Sign in and sign out vehicle keys at the Keybooth.
  • Greet all guests with a friendly, positive attitude.
  • Perform pre-trip evaluation of vehicle ensuring safety and cleanliness for both the driver and guests.
  • Transport guests to and from both casinos, various airports, and other locations in a safe manner.
  • Comply with all federal and state DOT
  • Operate wheelchair lifts and follow proper guidelines regarding securing wheelchairs and patrons.
  • Drive conservatively, announcing stops and answering general questions about the property and local community.
  • Remain alert to any conditions in the loading and unloading area that may present a danger to guests.
  • Address guest complaints to the best of ability before turning it over to a Transportation
  • Maintain current knowledge of casino and resort amenities to include Mount Pleasant area.
  • Perform light maintenance on transportation vehicles to include: tire pressure, adding oil, washer fluid, etc.; maintain a clean appearance of the exterior and interior of the vehicle.
  • Report accidents involving guests, employees or company assets in an immediate manner.
  • Report any possible problems or unusual circumstances to the Transportation
  • Maintain accurate records of guest transportation.
  • Attend all training and meetings as scheduled.
  • Comply with all Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort safety and security policies and procedures including company drug enforcement policies.
  • Comply with the Motor Vehicle Policy.
  • Comply with all traffic ordinances.
  • Adhere by all attendance policies and procedures set forth.
  • Provide excellent customer service for all internal and external customers of the operations at all times. Provide solutions for customer concerns and continually focus on customer service as our top priority.
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality and present a positive, professional demeanor and image at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Driving experience.
  • Must have a current and valid Commercial Driver's License with passenger endorsements or a Chauffer's License.
  • Must be able to work all shifts such as weekends, graveyard, and holidays.
  • Must be able to pass background check to meet the employment eligibility requirements as they pertain to the position.

License, Certification, or Special Requirements:
  • Must have a valid State of Michigan Driver's License, with the proper designation required for the vehicle utilized to perform the job duties, and qualify for coverage by SCIT auto liability insurance carrier. A Tribal Driver's License will also be required if a Motor Pool Vehicle is used in the course and scope of the required job duties.
  • Must have a current and valid Commercial Driver's License with passenger endorsements or a Chauffer's License.
  • Native American preference shall apply to all positions.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of applicable Tribal, federal, state, county and local laws, regulations, and requirements.
  • Knowledge of rules of the road and road signage.
  • Knowledge of driver and passenger service regulations.
  • Knowledgeable of the tribal community, roads, and surrounding areas.
  • Skill in the operation of shuttle bus, vehicles and ability to use the handicapped equipment located on van.
  • Skill in guest and employee relations.
  • Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of guests.
  • Ability to drive safely and efficiently in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to analyze situations and adopt appropriate courses of action.
  • Ability to respond to and remain calm in an emergency or crisis situations.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment.
  • Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently and meet strict time lines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work wheelchair lifts and follow proper guidelines regarding securing wheelchairs and guests.

Physical Demands:
  • Frequent use of hands, wrists, fingers associated with transportation.
  • Required to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally walk and stand and reach with arms and hands.
  • Normal visual acuity, ability to talk and hear.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 90 pounds.

Work Environment:
  • Must possess sufficient stamina to work under all types of weather conditions including extreme hot/cold and to lift, carry, push, or pull a variety of equipment and materials.
  • Exposure to fumes or airborne particles may occur.
  • Drive in adverse weather conditions.
  • Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
