Ingenuity Prep is a high-performing public charter school in Ward 8, serving scholars from Pre-K through Middle School. WHAT YOU'LL DO
As the Director of Literacy at Ingenuity Prep, you will lead the vision, design, and execution of a joyful, rigorous, and equitable literacy program that ensures all students across PreK3 through 8th grade develop as confident, capable readers and writers. In close partnership with the Chief Academic Officer and school leaders, you will drive a cohesive, research-based approach to literacy instruction, with a particular emphasis on building strong early literacy foundations in grades K-5. In this role, you will: 

Literacy Vision, Strategy, & Program Design

  • Design and lead the implementation of a cohesive, research-based literacy program across PreK3-8th grade, with a strong emphasis on early literacy (K-5)
  • Partner with the Chief Academic Officer to select, refine, and implement aligned curriculum, assessments, and instructional structures
  • Ensure vertical alignment of literacy practices and outcomes across all three academies

Instructional Leadership & Staff Development

  • Build the capacity of vice principals, teachers, and school staff to effectively implement the literacy program
  • Lead high-impact professional learning, including unit unpackings, lesson studies, and data analysis meetings
  • Coach and support instructional leaders to drive strong literacy instruction and outcomes across classrooms

Data-Driven Instruction & Student Outcomes

  • Collaborate with the Chief Academic Officer and principals to analyze student data and develop targeted action plans
  • Monitor progress toward Ingenuity Prep's graduate aims and ensure all students are on track to meet ambitious literacy goals
  • Support teams in using data to inform instruction, interventions, and acceleration strategies

Family Engagement & Literacy Culture

  • Plan and lead literacy-based events that build family excitement, knowledge, and partnership around developing students as readers
  • Foster a schoolwide culture that celebrates reading, writing, and a love of learning

Partnerships, Grants, & Program Management

  • Manage the implementation and reporting of the Comprehensive Literacy State Development Grant, ensuring alignment and compliance
  • Oversee curriculum partnerships and manage associated materials and resources to support strong program execution

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor's Degree (in any field); Master's Degree in Education/Educational Leadership preferred
  • Experience as a principal; experience in a charter school or K-5 or K-8 environment preferred
  • Experience with literacy programs and assessments such as Science of Reading, DIBELS, and EL Education's literacy curricula

Salary Range: $136,086 - $169,951 (commensurate with 1-10 years of experience)
