Job Summary

Position Summary

The Field Service Engineer is responsible for the installation, servicing, and repair of complex equipment and systems at customer sites. They ensure operational quality, instruct customers on system use and maintenance, and serve as the liaison between the company and customers for both technical and administrative matters. The role involves on-site installations of Thermo Fisher systems and related options.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct on-site installation of complex equipment and follow testing procedures to ensure proper working order. Conduct on-site scheduled planned maintenance visits. Provide solving and repair support for customers and other field service personnel. Cultivate and develop positive working relationships with customers, system users and company personnel.

Travel, often on short notice, to customer sites to resolve problems or support other field service personnel.

Complete and submit field service reports.

Provide training for customers and users on system maintenance.

Provide feedback to product quality teams.

Provide appropriate input in writing updating and correcting various Thermo Fisher Scientific system

documentation.

Provide feedback for various reports including identifying and isolating unique problems with system.

Act as a subject guide and resource for training.

This position is ideal for an experienced service engineer wanting to be involved with a dynamic team and

exposed to a constant variety of customer application areas.

Education

Typically requires a university degree in engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience in

electronic system problem solving

Experience

Typically requires approximately 3 - 5 years of hands-on technical experience installing, solving problems,

repairing, and calibrating complex analysis tools such as Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Focused Ion

Beam (FIB) or similar systems.

Experience in solving and repairing ultra-high vacuum and high voltage systems is highly desired.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Ability to deal effectively with customers

Fluent in both Korean and English

Excellent interpersonal communication skills

Proven ability to solving complex systems and subsystems down to component level

Literate in MS DOS and Windows software environments

Able to read and interpret schematics

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's Degree, no prior experience required. Experience installing, troubleshooting, and repairing sophisticated analytical instruments preferred

• Preferred Fields of Study: Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Biomedical) or related scientific field

• Advanced degrees or specialized certifications are a plus

• Strong electronics and mechanical aptitude with ability to diagnose issues down to component level

• Excellent customer service skills and professional demeanor

• Strong verbal and written communication abilities

• Fluency in English required; additional language skills welcome

• Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities and analytical thinking

• Proficiency with Windows operating systems, MS Office, and service management software

• Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, schematics and documentation

• Valid driver's license and ability to travel up to 50-75%

• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods

• Experience with ultra-high vacuum systems and high voltage equipment preferred

• Availability to work flexible hours and respond to emergency service calls

• Must be able to obtain necessary credentials to access customer facilities

• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage time effectively

• Collaborative mindset with ability to work independently
