SUBFUNCTION DEFINITION:

We are seeking a mission-oriented and skilled Director of Research Computing and Data Sciences to join our Information Services for Research group at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.
In this role, you will:
- Help shape strategy and tactics that will allow our team to offer best-in-class research computing infrastructure and analytics tools to CCHMC’s research community
- Mature our ability to provide data science services for the conduct of research and discovery activities
- Collaborate with other IS4R leaders to holistically meet the needs of CCHMC’s evolving and dynamic research and discovery efforts through a robust portfolio of research data, technology and analytics services
REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
What You'll Do:
As Director of Research Computing and Data Science, you will leverage skills in communication, collaboration and problem-solving to lead a team of technology and data professionals who support, maintain and mature the computing and analytics environment for the research community at CCHMC. You also will provide senior leadership to teams providing direct expertise and support for management and analysis of biomedical research data. Critical to success in this endeavor will be an ability to think creatively, partner with members of the research community, collaborate with other leaders, and apply a strong operational mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
People Planning/Development

Create a vision and roadmap CCHMC’s research computing environment and data science services.
- Delegate responsibilities and establish clear lines of accountability.
- Identify and incorporate best practices in research computing, biomedical data management, and data science.
- Lead the selection, development, mentoring, and coaching of team members.
Department Leadership

Serve as member of IS4R leadership team, helping guide and execute on the team’s vision and mission to build a world-class research informatics environment
- Propose, research, and manage the development and assessment of technology goals.
- Implement and monitor assigned initiatives.
- Drive execution of projects and components. Act as a champion for a positive organizational culture and quality of work life.
System Design and Strategy

Lead the development and implementation of cost-effective systems and technology to serve the CCHMC research community.
- Develop and maintain supportive policies and practices that provide equitable access to computational resources and methods for the CCHMC research community.
