Job description

Job Summary:
rockITdata is a unique SDVOSB services company that partners with leading commercial healthcare/life sciences organizations on cutting edge innovations. The company is seeking an Applications Analyst for an onsite nightshift position in Austin, Texas, responsible for monitoring critical applications, assessing vulnerabilities, and ensuring application performance.
Responsibilities:
• Assesses vulnerabilities and threats to the Association’s networks, evaluates available security processes and technologies, and make recommendations to management and business partners for reducing the issues and increasing security in an appropriate and efficient manner.
• Monitoring critical applications using application monitoring tools ServiceNow, SolarWinds, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, Splunk, Splunk ITSI and others.
• Identification of alert threshold violations, proactive event identification, and execution of SOP-driven reporting, response, and resolution actions.
• Experience in the study of applications and the consumption of system resources and be able to detect application problems such as threshold violations.
• Monitors enterprise-wide application performance and reports on application behavior analytics.
• Conduct smart triage by identifying, diagnosing, and providing pro-active resolution of application performance problems.
• Monitors high value Business-centric transactions and manages response actions.
• Identifies the functional domain in which problems reside (Server Utilization, network Saturation, Application Tuning.
• Detects change of state conditions that have significance for management of Configuration Items (CIs) and IT services.
• Ensures all events are communicated IAW SOP and/or takes further corrective action with the application owner.
• Participates in all Major Incident Management and Root Cause Analysis calls and provides expert troubleshooting support as needed.
• Escalate as per criticality matrix definitions.
• Notify the internal/external stakeholders per procedure.
• Provides APM input to daily shift reports and metrics.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Must have operational experience working in a Command Center activity, actively communicating with teammates and mission partners to identify, analyze, correlate and assist to resolve performance issues that negatively impact IT enterprise systems, applications, infrastructure and services.
• Must have exceptional written and verbal communications skills.
• Must have extensive hands-on experience in troubleshooting complex technical issues with a distributed system environment.
• Must have familiarity with at least two of the following monitoring tools: SolarWinds, Splunk, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, and ScienceLogic.
• Demonstrated ability to dissect intricate problems, employ critical thinking, and apply systematic approaches to isolate and resolve issues efficiently.
• Experience participating in Major Incidents.
• Enthusiasm for staying up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to troubleshooting and event management.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering math or related discipline and 5+ years’ work experience.
• Eight (8) years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education (13 years total).
• The ability to pass a Tier 2/Moderate Background Investigation
