Location/Schedule

  • Hybrid schedule. 2 days/week required at our corporate office in Lake Forest, IL. Must be flexible to be onsite more based on business needs.

What Youโ€™ll Do

  • Lead the Enterprise Data Governance Program
    Partner with the Vice President of Enterprise Data Services to define and advance the governance vision, including establishing and chairing the Data Governance Council, defining roles, and ensuring accountability across the organization.
  • Build & Scale Governance Capabilities
    Design and mature governance operating models, processes, roadmaps, and tools that enable consistent, scalable data practices across all business units.
  • Establish Governance Standards & Compliance
    Develop and enforce policies, standards, and procedures aligned with regulatory requirements (NCUA, GLBA, GDPR, CCPA) and industry best practices.
  • Drive Data Ownership & Accountability
    Partner with business leaders to define data domains and assign data owners, stewards, and trusteesโ€”embedding clear accountability throughout the data lifecycle.
  • Measure & Improve Program Effectiveness
    Define KPIs, monitor data quality and governance maturity, and provide executive-level reporting with actionable insights for continuous improvement.
  • Enable Data Governance Technology
    Lead implementation and adoption of governance tools, including data cataloging, metadata management, lineage mapping, and business glossary development.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally
    Partner with IT, Information Security, Risk, Compliance, and Legal to ensure proper data classification, quality, and protection of sensitive member data.
  • Promote a Data-Driven Culture
    Champion data governance and data-as-a-product principles through training, communication, and partnership with Learning & Development to increase data literacy across the credit union.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Information Systems, Data Management, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in data governance, data management.ย 7+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree
  • 2+ years of experience within a credit union or financial services environment- preferred
  • CDMP certification preferred
  • Strong ability to influence and lead without direct authority.ย Youโ€™ll lead the charge on getting the business areas on board with data ownership.
  • Experience defining data and working across business and with technical teams
  • Knowledge of data governance tools, metadata, and data quality frameworks
  • Familiarity with regulatory environments and data privacy standards
  • A passion for making data understandable, usable, and trusted

      Compensation

      The annual salary range for this role is $103,391 to $165,428. This role is eligible for an annual bonus opportunity. A specific salary offer considers factors including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
