Job Summary:
CellSight, the Ocular Stem Cell and Regeneration Research Program at the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus, is seeking a scientist to fill a faculty position at the Research Assistant Professor level (1.O FTE) to carry out research in the areas of retinal biology, stem cell technologies, and regenerative medicine. CellSight is a cross-disciplinary team of investigators working in a highly collaborative environment with the common goal of developing novel stem cell-based therapeutics to treat ocular diseases. The successful candidate will join the 3DRet Lab directed by Dr. Canto-Soler and will be involved in research projects aimed at establishing innovative regenerative strategies to treat retinal degenerative diseases. This is an exciting, new line of work using cutting-edge technology in the stem cell field and we are looking for a motivated and independent scientist willing to contribute with scientific knowledge, technical expertise, mentoring of junior investigators, and writing of manuscripts and grants. There is no direct patient care or contact involved in this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project management of key research projects
- Assist the PI in training, mentoring and supervising lab members
- Contribute to troubleshooting and solving complex scientific or technical issues
- Take on a primary role in the preparation and writing of manuscripts for publication in scientific journals
- Contribute to further strengthening a competitive extramurally funded research portfolio by identifying funding opportunities; assisting the PI with grant conceptualization, strategy, drafting, and editing; mentoring/coaching trainees and other lab members through grant and manuscript writing; and seeking out and applying for independent or co-investigator grants that align with and expand the PI's core research program

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
A PhD in a relevant field
Two years of experience as Scientific Writer
Five years of direct work experience in scientific leadership roles in industry setting
Preferred Qualifications:
Direct work experience in industry leading scientific research programs to support product development for regenerative therapies
Experience in regulatory compliance with FDA regulations
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
