China Research Intern PT – Defense (Remote/Hybrid)

Location: Remote in Washington, DC Area

Salary: $15-25/ hourly

BluePath Labs is a fast-growing research and consulting company committed to solving complex problems for federal, state, and local government clients. We offer a range of professional, scientific, and technology services. Our specific areas of expertise include business consulting, research and data science, and technology integration.

We are actively seeking a China Research Intern to support open-source research and translation products relating to China's military, defense industrial base, technological development, and foreign policy.

Work Description:

China Research Interns at BluePath contribute to our research and translation work at all stages, including by performing administrative tasks, gathering data, conducting open-source research and analysis, editing reports, proofreading translations, generating data visualizations, and testing software tools. The role is primarily remote, but with a strong preference for candidates local to the DC area so they can join occasional in-person meetings and use equipment at our offices in Georgetown if needed.

Responsibilities: The China Research Intern will support tasks such as:

  • Open-source research
  • Translation work
  • Any other tasks as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizen
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Master's or PhD program
  • Strong, near-native Chinese reading skills
  • Ability to work 15-25 hours per week on a flexible schedule
  • Ability to work independently

Preferred Experience:

  • Chinese-to-English translation experience
  • A record of publications related to China, especially related to defense and technology
  • Familiarity with Python and/or command line-based tools
  • Interest in data science and visualization
  • Time spent living in China
