Summary of Job Duties:
The Department of Computer Science at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock is seeking candidates to fill its available graduate assistant positions. The primary responsibility of the Graduate Research Assistant (GA) is to provide professional research support under the supervision of a member of the Graduate Faculty. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.
Qualifications:
Required Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution of higher education;
  • Regular admission to a UA Little Rock graduate degree program or good standing with the UA Little Rock Graduate School for continuing graduate students;
  • Ability to work the required hours (FT-50% - 20 hours per week/PT-25% - 10 hours per week) with regular attendance.

Preferred Education and/or Experience:
  • Hold a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related area;
  • Preference will be given to graduate students admitted to either the MS in Computer Science or the CIS PhD - Computer Science Track degree programs.
  • Experience in the design, implementation, and analysis of software systems.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Attending class sessions;
  • Teaching and assessment of courses and labs for the UA Little Rock Computer Science Department;
  • Leading a class activity such as a discussion group or demonstration;
  • Tutoring students;
  • Working with diverse populations;
  • Organizing different projects;
  • Being accessible to students or colleagues through email and scheduled appointments;
  • Preparing materials as needed as determined by the chair, graduate coordinator, and/or supervisor;
  • Maintaining records and meet deadlines as required by administration;
  • Respecting confidentiality of all individuals; comply with FERPA requirements;
  • Assisting with other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Very good oral and written communication skills;
  • Ability to work solo and in a team environment;
  • Ability to understand business processes and workflow;
  • Ability to answer computer questions in person, through email, and over the phone;
  • Undergraduate knowledge of the courses in which they serve as a Teaching Assistant.
