What is a science foundation?

Science foundations are organizations, often nonprofit or government-funded, that support scientific research and education through grants, scholarships, and other resources. They play a crucial role in advancing scientific knowledge by funding innovative projects, supporting scientists, and promoting science outreach. Examples include the National Science Foundation (NSF) in the United States and the European Science Foundation (ESF). Their work helps drive discoveries, foster collaboration, and support the next generation of researchers.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a science foundation role?
