Job description

Job Summary:

ย

Zymo Research is seeking a Scientific Communications Manager to translate complex life science topics and technologies into clear, compelling, customer-relevant content that supports marketing campaigns, product messaging, and scientific storytelling.

This role sits at the intersection of science, marketing, and commercial strategy. It is ideal for someone with strong scientific literacy, excellent writing ability, and the judgment to communicate technical information in a way that is accurate, engaging, and useful to researchers.

This is not a pure science role, and it is not a generic marketing role. The right person understands that strong scientific communication must do more than explain how something works, it must help customers understand why it matters, how it supports their research, and why they should trust the solution.

Join us in making a meaningful impact!

What You'll Do

  • Strategize, create and refine scientific marketing content across formats, including application notes, technical articles, web content, campaign copy, email content, product messaging, FAQs, guides, and educational resources.
  • Review marketing materials for scientific accuracy, clarity, and credibility.
  • Translate complex technical information into clear, accessible language without oversimplifying or weakening scientific integrity.
  • Partner with Commercial Managers, Product Marketing, R&D, and Marketing to align content with customer needs, market trends, product priorities, and campaign goals.
  • Help shape product and application messaging from the customer's perspective: what the audience needs to know, why it matters, and what action or understanding should follow.
  • Support brand and campaign initiatives by bringing scientific depth, technical clarity, and customer relevance to the content.
  • Help ensure Zymo Research's communications are scientifically credible, commercially useful, and aligned with the brand's voice and standards.

What We're Looking For

  • Background in life sciences, biology, molecular biology, genetics, microbiomics, epigenetics, genomics, or a related field.
  • Strong scientific literacy with the ability to understand technical workflows, product applications, and researcher needs.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills across technical, educational, and marketing formats.
  • Ability to translate complex science into content that is clear, accurate, engaging, and customer-focused.
  • Strong judgment around scientific accuracy, claims, positioning, and credibility.
  • Customer-first mindset with the ability to write from the reader's perspective, not just the scientist's perspective.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with marketing, commercial, scientific, product, and creative teams.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable managing multiple content projects at once.

ย

Preferred Qualifications

ย

  • Experience in a life science company, biotech, diagnostics, scientific publishing, technical marketing, or scientific communications agency.
  • Familiarity with molecular biology workflows such as sample collection, DNA/RNA extraction, NGS, microbiome research, epigenetics, or related areas.
  • Experience supporting marketing campaigns, product launches, application content, or customer-facing technical resources.
  • Familiarity with SEO, content strategy, digital marketing, or web content best practices.
  • Ability to support multiple formats, including presentations, video scripts, social content, long-form articles, and sales enablement materials.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  The Right Person for This Role

ย

  • You are scientifically curious, precise, and customer-minded. You care about accuracy, but you also understand that accuracy alone is not enough, content must be clear, relevant, and meaningful to the person reading it.
  • You know how to ask the right questions, work with subject matter experts, and turn technical details into communication that helps researchers understand the value of a product, workflow, or scientific idea.
  • You are comfortable working between scientists and marketers, and you can help both sides communicate more effectively.
