Ferring, a privately‑owned biopharmaceutical company, is seeking a Scientific Leader (Medical Science Liaison) focused on lumbar disc herniation and spine‑related disorders.
Responsibilities
- Respond to unsolicited requests with accurate, balanced, and timely scientific information regarding Ferring’s interventional spine therapy, lumbar disc herniation, and non‑surgical spine interventions
- Establish and maintain scientific relationships with key opinion leaders, academic centers, and community‑based spine and pain specialists
- Support pre‑launch activities, including KOL identification and mapping, early scientific engagement and disease‑state education, field insights gathering to inform medical strategy and unmet needs
- Support launch execution, including engagement of early adopters and centers of excellence, scientific exchange on clinical data, patient selection, and real‑world use considerations, identification and communication of adoption barriers and field insights
- Identify and support Investigator‑Initiated Studies (IIS) and Phase IV/post‑marketing research
- Provide scientific support for clinical trial awareness, site identification, and study execution
- Deliver field‑based medical education on disease state, treatment landscape, and evolving standards of care
- Support physician training initiatives including simulation, cadaver and peer‑to‑peer educational programs
- Provide compliant, non‑promotional scientific training and ongoing support for commercial teams
- Monitor and communicate competitive intelligence, treatment trends, and emerging spine clinical data
- Participate in advisory boards, speaker trainings, investigator meetings, and major scientific congresses
- Assist in development of medical materials, slide decks, and scientific resources
- Support processing of medical education grant requests and systematic field insights collection
- Ensure timely documentation and reporting of adverse events and product complaints
- Maintain current knowledge of spine care pathways, interventional techniques, and clinical practice evolution
Qualifications
- Advanced doctoral degree required (M.D., D.O., Pharm.D., Ph.D.)
- Candidates with a Ph.D. and demonstrated expertise in spine biology, biomechanics, or related disciplines a plus
- 2+ years of Medical Science Liaison or related experience
- Experience or strong interest in spine, interventional pain, neurosurgery, orthopedics, or PM&R preferred
- Relevant clinical or research experience in spine, musculoskeletal, pain management or related fields (including doctoral research and postdoctoral training)
- Prior experience supporting product pre‑launch or launch activities preferred
- Understanding of clinical trial design, data interpretation, and evidence‑based medicine
- Working knowledge of FDA regulations, OIG compliance, and industry standards
- Excellent scientific communication and presentation skills with ability to engage in peer‑to‑peer exchange
- Strong relationship‑building and networking skills with clinical stakeholders
- Analytical and critical‑thinking skills to interpret and communicate complex clinical data
- Ability to work cross‑functionally with Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, and Commercial teams
- High emotional intelligence and strong stakeholder awareness
- Willingness and ability to travel approximately 60% or more
- Successful candidates are required to reside within the territory; territory assignments are subject to change

Compensation
Base salary range: $174,900 to $200,000. Additional compensation may include sales commissions based on individual and geographic/company performance.
