Schwab Advisor Services (AS) is the industry leader in providing custody, trading, technology, and practice management services to independent advisory firms. Schwab serves approximately 16,000 individual RIA businesses with over $5 trillion in assets under management in accounts at Schwab. In Advisor Services, Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs) and their clients are at the center of everything we do. We have built our business on serving the needs of RIAs and advancing an industry that helps them and their clients thrive. This includes the third-party platforms that enable RIAs to run their businesses effectively.

Our API program is an open architecture approach that offers secure, high-quality integration with many of the leading third-party Fintech platforms that support an RIA’s practice. Using a variety of capabilities, our API participants build customized integrations to help Advisors and their clients access Schwab Advisor Center capabilities across systems including AI platforms, client relationship management, financial planning, trading & rebalancing, and portfolio & risk management.  With the growing third-party technology landscape, Schwab Advisor Services is expanding its product management teams, developing new APIs to support these connections.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Contribute to and execute the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for APIs by translating business outcomes and advisor needs into a clearly defined, prioritized product increments and backlog items
  • Develop a deep understanding of Schwab Advisor Center's current capabilities and roadmaps to identify opportunities for new API externalization and to support further automation of advisor workflows on third-party platforms; develop and maintain strong partnerships with other product management teams
  • Lead product discovery and validation efforts with internal business partners, fintech providers, and RIAs to identify and prioritize high-value workflow use cases
  • Define, track, and communicate platform and product success metrics; report on roadmap progress, adoption trends, and outcomes to the Director and relevant stakeholders. This may include building new dashboards and tracking methods as needed.
  • Partner with engineering teams to deliver scalable, secure, and resilient platform capabilities while balancing innovation, technical feasibility, risk management, and operational excellence
  • Lead development execution with your scrum team, including proactively managing dependencies, planning for API validation, and supporting test execution with third-party platforms
  • Collaborate with the Relationship Management and Product Integration team for go-to-market planning, including creating product documentation and API overviews. Coordinate API hosting on our developer portal.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with design, engineering, compliance, and business teams to ensure product decisions are aligned with enterprise priorities and appropriately manage risk

What you have

Required Experience & Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner or in digital product management, with a demonstrated ability to deliver complex technology and business solutions
  • Hands-on experience working with APIs, including defining API requirements, supporting integrations, or delivering API-oriented products
  • Proven ability to manage and prioritize a product backlog, write clear user stories and acceptance criteria, and drive sprint execution in an agile environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience using data, customer insights, and market feedback to guide product decisions and measure success
  • Effective stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to synthesize input from diverse partners and align teams around shared priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present product plans, progress updates, and business cases clearly to internal audiences
  • Experience developing product metrics and adoption frameworks to measure and communicate product value
  • Bachelor's degree required
