Job description

The Scholarship Advising/Financial Support Program seeks a responsible, detail-oriented individual to provide administrative support to the Assistant Director of Financial Support for 10 hours per week. This individual should display a professional demeanor and ability to multitask. The applicant must possess strong organizational skills, and be punctual and self-sufficient. A high level of technical computer literacy is preferred. This position provides a flexible work schedule with a high expectation of reliability. Students from any college with at least one year of study at the University are encouraged to apply.
RESPONSIBILITIES
General responsibilities include:
  • Research and maintain a database of scholarships, fellowships and other opportunities.
  • Assist in advertising for events and upcoming scholarships
  • Update social media account with relevant scholarship information
  • Create and distribute online newsletter with scholarship opportunities
  • Provide information and resources to students, including responding to email inquiries
  • Prepare and distribute event and workshop materials
  • Assist with event coordination for workshops
  • Connect students with appropriate campus resources
  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must have a Federal Work Study award.
  • Exceptionally professional and proactive
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Demonstrate ability to prioritize, problem-solve, manage diverse activities and meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Adeptness with Canva, Instagram, MS Office Suites, Mac and PC proficient, and familiarity with Google Apps, including Google Drive, Docs, Forms, Sheets, etc.
  • Interest in a position that has the potential to extend across fall and spring semesters
  • Genuine enthusiasm for The New School and active interest in the school's vision and culture, and campus events and activities
  • Experience with social media, print or web publications, or event promotion a plus
  • Pleasant demeanor and positive, can-do attitude

Work Mode: Hybrid/Remote - Employees hired for this position primarily work remotely with the occasional on-campus presence required with advanced notice. Employees in this role will also be expected to use their best judgment to be on campus when necessary in order to best fulfill the responsibilities of their job descriptions. #LI-DNI
Hourly Rate: $17.00/hour

Responsibilities:
The Scholarship Student Assistant will assist the Scholarship Advising/Financial Support Program with various event related tasks including advertising, event coordination, and distributing handouts during events. In addition, The Scholarship Student Assistant will maintain and research database of scholarships, fellowships and other opportunities, assist with newsletter and social media, and assist students finding resources.
