Job description


The Scheduling and Student Support Services Assistant will work under the direction of the Director of Operations and Student Support to perform duties necessary to support McDaniel College's Graduate & Professional Studies academic programs and operations. This position will be 25% scheduling duties and 75% student services responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Scheduling Functions
This role collaborates with the Scheduling Coordinator to input GPS classes as assigned each semester in Colleague. They serve as a back up to the Scheduling Coordinator for updating schedule and communicating updates with appropriate internal and external departments, as well as works collaboratively with others to address schedule and enrollment needs.
Student Services Functions
Guide prospective and current students through the full enrollment lifecycle, from admission to graduation, through proactive outreach and ongoing communication via phone, email, and virtual meetings. Provide accurate information on programs, schedules, and enrollment requirements, addressing questions and resolving concerns to support student success.
Maintain detailed records of student interactions, ensure compliance with institutional and federal guidelines, and collaborate closely with admissions, registrar, financial services, and other campus offices to streamline processes. Support recruitment events, onboarding, and student engagement initiatives, while assisting with enrollment tracking, reporting, and special projects as needed.
Requirements:
  • Associates degree or 4 years of office experience.
  • Minimum of two years of professional office experience, educational setting preferred.
  • Excellent customer service, phone, and organizational skills are necessary.
  • Communicate effectively, with a variety of constituents - prospective and current students, faculty, staff, and community members/partners.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) required, along with the knowledge or willingness to learn Slate, Colleague, Qualtrics and other college systems.
  • Goal oriented, reliable and highly ethical
  • Ability to communicate with customers (e.g. students, staff, etc.) and to understand and respond positively to their requests.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to adapt to changing assignments and multiple priorities, manage multiple tasks and successfully meet deadlines.
  • Work a flexible schedule that includes some evenings or weekends, based upon departmental schedule.
  • Enjoy a fast-paced environment, is goal driven and accepts coaching / feedback.
  • Reliable self-starter capable of working independently and in a team environment.
