Job description

Position Summary
We are looking for a skilled and customer-focused Desktop Specialist to join our IT team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of desktop computers, laptops, peripherals, and related software across the organization. You will serve as a key point of contact for end-user technical support and play an important role in keeping our technology environment running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, and maintain desktop and laptop computers, printers, and other peripherals
  • Provide technical support to end users, troubleshooting hardware and software issues in person, via phone, or through a ticketing system
  • Image and deploy new workstations and ensure systems are kept up to date with patches and security updates
  • Manage and maintain software installations, licensing, and version control
  • Diagnosing and resolve network connectivity issues at the workstation level
  • Support onboarding of new employees, including hardware setup and account provisioning
  • Document technical issues, resolutions, and standard procedures in a knowledge base
  • Collaborate with the broader IT team on infrastructure projects and system upgrades
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of hardware and software assets
  • Ensure compliance with company IT policies and security standards
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in a desktop support or IT helpdesk role
  • Proficiency with Windows 11 and macOS environments
  • Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, and user account management
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of PC hardware components and peripherals
  • Experience using IT ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira, Zendesk)
  • Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • CompTIA A+ and Microsoft certifications (e.g., MD-102)
  • Experience with endpoint management tools such as Microsoft Intune, SCCM, or Jamf
  • Knowledge of ITIL practices and service management frameworks
  • Experience supporting remote and hybrid work environments
  • Familiarity with scripting (PowerShell, Bash) for automation tasks
Work Environment
  • On-site position with occasional travel between office locations as needed
  • Must be able to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs
  • May require occasional after-hours work for maintenance windows or urgent issues
