Job description

Summary 

The scale house operator communicates with drivers as they enter the mill. They properly weigh in and complete delivery paperwork. Scale house operators facilitate the movement of the trucks and products to the correct location and assist the team with sanitation schedules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Driver communication and scale operation.
  • Complete delivery paperwork.
  • Unload ingredient trucks according to procedure and product flowability.
  • Complete scheduled sanitation schedules.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience

  •  High school diploma or equivalent
  • Agricultural experience is preferred.
  • Prior experience in a feed mill is preferred.
  • Training in preventative maintenance programs, mechanical and electrical systems is desirable.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities               

  • Good communication skills with a teamwork attitude are essential.

  • Self-motivation with a drive to follow policy and procedures is required.

  • Computer skills, Word, Excel and site-specific software required.

  • Mathematical ability is required.

  • Knowledge of production agriculture is desirable.

Physical Demands

Stand and walk constantly; grip, grasp, push, pull, reach, bend, stoop, lift up to 60 pounds frequently; sit, climb, lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Must be able to climb up to 150ft by ladder.

Work Environment

Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and airborne particles. Employee may work in outside environment where temperatures vary seasonally. Clothing must be worn based on seasonal weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Certain areas may be loud enough to require ear protection. All personal protective equipment will be provided and required during certain working conditions and in certain areas. The employee is occasionally exposed to high places.
