SCADA Engineer

A well-established automation and industrial controls company is seeking a SCADA Engineer to join its engineering team in Mississauga, Ontario. With decades of experience delivering Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) integration, industrial automation, and control solutions, the company is recognized as a trusted partner across a wide range of heavy industries.

This position offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineer to design, implement, and maintain SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems that support the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of industrial facilities. The successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize system performance, troubleshoot technical issues, and deliver high-quality automation solutions.

This is a current full-time opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and implement SCADA systems and solutions for industrial applications.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system architectures, drawings, specifications, and operating procedures.
  • Monitor SCADA system performance, identify issues, and implement corrective actions to improve reliability and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to integrate SCADA systems with PLCs, HMIs, and other control and monitoring platforms.
  • Perform system upgrades, software updates, backups, and maintenance activities to ensure optimal system performance and cybersecurity.
  • Provide technical support and training to end users and internal technical personnel.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software, hardware, networking, and communication issues related to SCADA systems.
  • Ensure all systems comply with applicable industry standards, regulations, and engineering best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Automation Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in good standing.
  • 3–5 years of experience as a SCADA Engineer or in a similar industrial automation role.
  • Strong knowledge of SCADA platforms such as Iconics, Wonderware, Siemens, Ignition, or comparable systems.
  • Experience with PLCs, HMI systems, and industrial communication protocols, including Modbus and OPC.
  • Proficiency in programming and scripting languages such as SQL, Python, and VBA.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in SCADA systems or related industrial automation technologies.
  • Experience implementing cybersecurity best practices for industrial control systems.
  • Familiarity with data analytics, reporting, and visualization tools.
