Job description

Connect Staffing is hiring a Computerized Saw Operator for a lumber/wood products manufacturer in Riverside, CA. This is a temp-to-hire evening position paying $25.68/hr, Monday through Friday with Saturday overtime as needed. In this role, you will operate a computer-controlled saw to cut lumber to customer order specifications, retrieve and monitor cut files through the saw's computer system, and perform routine maintenance, including blade changes. Training runs on day shift for 1-2 weeks before moving to the regular evening schedule.
Pay: $25.68/hr
Schedule: Mon-Fri, 2:30 PM-11:00 PM (training on 1st shift 6:00 AM-2:30 PM for 1-2 weeks); Saturday OT required.
Location: Riverside, CA

Responsibilities
  • Operate a computer-controlled saw to cut lumber accurately to customer order specifications and cut files in an outdoor lumber yard environment.
  • Use the computer system to retrieve cut files, monitor cuts and recaps, and manage the printing system to verify layouts, identifiers, and logos meet quality standards.
  • Change saw blades and perform routine saw maintenance; report equipment problems to the supervisor.
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections and complete corresponding inspection sheets.
  • Use tape measures and speed squares to perform accuracy and squareness checks throughout the shift.
  • Coordinate with forklift operators and stackers to ensure lumber packages are stacked and banded to customer requirements.

Minimum Requirements
  • 6+ months of experience with saw operation or machine operation in a production or manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience interpreting work orders, cut sheets, or production layouts.
  • Ability to read a tape measure to 1/16-inch increments.
  • Experience with conveyor systems in a production or lumber yard setting.
  • Familiarity with printing systems used to generate load labels, identifiers, or customer-specific markings.
  • Experience cutting spacers and stickers for lumber load preparation.
