Scope of Role

The Saw Hand is responsible for operating saw machines and handling material preparation tasks to ensure precision and efficiency in cutting processes. This role requires attention to detail, proper equipment maintenance, and adherence to safety and quality standards while supporting overall shop operations.

Education, Experience & Technical Skills Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in machining or material handling preferred.

• Experience operating saw machines and handling raw materials.

• Ability to read and interpret cut sheets and material specifications.

• Knowledge of safety procedures and proper material handling techniques.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to work independently and maintain a clean, safe work environment.

Job Functions & Responsibilities

• Setting up and operating the saw machine.

• Ensuring precision and accuracy in the cutting processes.

• Maintaining the equipment for optimal performance.

• Unload material when material is delivered.

• Clean the material thoroughly and ensure you mark it clearly, including the type of material and its size.

• Place material in the designated stocking racks as required.

• Keep track of the material inventory. When running low, add the necessary material to the order book and submit it to the Manufacturing Manager at the end of each day.

• Cut the material listed on the cut sheet for each job, ensuring accuracy and precision in each cut.

• Ensure cut material is placed in the appropriate location.

• Delivery responsibilities.

• Perform various odd jobs around the shop as needed.

• Keep the saw area neat and clean to ensure safety and efficiency.

• Assist in other departments’ functional duties to gain exposure and experience.

• Includes all other duties assigned.
