Job description

Position Purpose: Responsible for running a work center in the production of composite leaf springs weighing up to 40 lbs.
Production Associates may be assigned to 1st (7a - 3p), 2nd (3p - 11p) or 3rd (11p - 7a) shift.
Production Associates may be assigned to one of several workstations and must be able to effectively complete the required takes of all the workstations trained on. Workstation assignments may be in one of the following areas depending upon production needs.
Packing
  1. Inspect up to 40lb springs for final quality control, which may require touch up painting.
  2. Lift springs from baskets with 3-foot walls, unassisted, and place them on inspection table. Flip springs to view all sides.
  3. Scan springs and place into box for shipping.
  4. Operator must be familiar with computers and the use of a hand scanner

Saw
  1. Loads uncut springs into the saw
  2. Operate pre-programmed Saw in an efficient manner
  3. Ensure Saw produces correct parts

Satec
  1. Operates Satec Unit in efficient manner
  2. The Satec Operator is responsible for quality of all parts, as such, they must ensure issues are communicated effectively and efficiently

Sand
  1. Sands flashing from Springs as they are removed from the table
  2. Must be able to keep up with fast paced manufacturing environment while maintaining adherence to quality and safety

Huck and Pack
  1. Assemble Springs with specialized hardware as directed
  2. Operator must be able to bend and lift while carrying parts

Bonding Oven
  1. Lifts 25 lb. springs from basket to load springs into the oven.
  2. Upon removal from 400 degree oven, cushings are affixed to the spring using apoxy.
  3. After affixing cushings, springs are loaded to a rotating trundle and clamped into place.
  4. Finished springs are uploaded from trundles and placed into baskets with 3 feet high walls.
  5. No lift assist for process.

Bumper
  1. Loads bumpers onto paint line.
  2. Unloads bumpers from paint line to finishing table.
  3. Polishes, wraps, and prepares bumpers for shipping.
  4. Box and band outgoing bumpers.
  5. Must be able to organize all aspects of the assembly process.

All Production Associates are expected to be able to effectively:
  • Handle incoming and outgoing material to supply machines with materials.
  • Perform operations following processes defined by machine procedural manual.
  • Must be able to self-direct work with good time-management in order to meet daily productivity goals.
  • Operate production machines & equipment at or above minimum standards.
  • Assure correctness of raw materials and inspection of parts.
  • Perform inspection on product utilizing total quality concepts.
  • Accurately report daily activities and production data as directed.
  • Conduct required quality checks and adhere to quality standards.
  • Keep work areas clean and free of safety hazards.
  • Exercise safe working habits while operating machines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Team Lead or Supervisor.
  • Must possess a high level of attention to details.
  • Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of safety culture, participating in safety training sessions, and promptly reporting any safety concerns.
  • Effectively communicate issues to the Team Lead, Maintenance Technician, or Supervisor
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education and Training
  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Prior production assembly experience, 1-2 yrs. preferred

Minimum Qualifications
  • Ability to work overtime, as production demands require.
  • Must pass drug and alcohol screen and remain drug free throughout the term of employment.
  • Must follow all safety practices and policies.
  • Must be able to read and write legibly.
  • Must be able to meet attendance standards.

Physical Demands
  • Constant standing, walking, reaching, balancing, cervical spine motion, lower extremities, and simple grasp.
  • Frequent use of firm grasping, fine manipulation, and pitching.
  • Frequent forward bending, squatting, kneeling, and climbing.
  • Lifting and carrying up to 50lbs.

Environmental Conditions
  • Non-temperature-controlled manufacturing facility.
  • Must wear eye, ear, and foot protection.
