Job description

MTSI is looking for a Satellite Communications (SATCOM) Senior Technician with deep, authoritative knowledge and extensive experience in the SATCOM field while supporting Space Force assets worldwide. Support includes both in-garrison and deployed technical expertise and manual labor for setup, operation, maintenance, teardown, packing, and transport of advanced communications systems.
Key Functions
  • Install, configure, maintain, and operate fixed/deployable antenna systems.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and operate RF components to include but not limited to modems, frequency converters, high-powered amplifiers, test equipment, etc.

Required Education /Experience
  • Associate of Science in STEM field.
  • 4+ years of experience with setting up and maintaining deployable and fixed antenna systems and associated RF equipment.
  • Technical experience with RF, satellite communication systems, and signal analysis.
  • Perform communications system alignments using precision test equipment.

Required Skills
  • Ability to install, align, and diagnose antenna drive system components and failures.
  • Able to explain detailed signal flow and components in the transmit and receive paths.
  • Ability to configure and operate test equipment including signal analyzers/generators, oscilloscopes, satellite link emulators, signal filters, amplifiers, and distribution switches.
  • Creating, reading, and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Ability to communicate technical details and plans including interaction and presentation to team members at all levels.
  • Ability to multi-task and adjust priorities based on customer needs.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. above the head repeatedly.

Desired Education/ Experience
  • Bachelor of Science in STEM field.
  • Site survey experience; verifying technical, physical, and environmental feasibility for installing satellite antennas and equipment along with signal analysis/interference.
  • Experience in training personnel on antenna systems and related RF components.
  • Military mobility and commercial logistics experience.

Desired Skills
  • Basic understanding of network fundamentals and IP based systems.
  • Familiarity with assembly and disassembly of various shelter systems, including inflatable tents, modular structures, and containerized units.
  • Basic knowledge of fixed and deployable AC Power generation and distribution systems.
  • Fork/Boom Lift operator; 6k, 10k, electric/gas powered, all-terrain.
  • Active or ability to obtain commercial driver's license to support delivery or movement

Clearance Requirements
  • Position requires an active TS/SCI clearance.

Travel
  • This position will required overnight travel up to 20% of the time. Trip durations may range from overnight to multiple weeks.
  • This position is onsite in Colorado Springs, Colorado

The pay range for this position in Colorado is $75,000/year to $115,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on established government contract ranges, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, and other factors. MTSI also offers a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
