SiSTEM

Richmond, TX • On-site

Contractor

Job description

About the Role:
SiSTEM is hiring experienced SAT and ACT test prep tutors to work with motivated students and families in the greater Houston area.
This is not a volume tutoring gig. Our tutors work as trusted academic partners with families who value expertise, helping students build test-taking strategies, strengthen weak areas, and reach their target scores with confidence.

If you can tutor any of the following, we want to hear from you:

SAT Prep:
  • SAT Reading and Writing (digital format).
  • SAT Math (with and without calculator).
  • Full-length SAT diagnostic and practice test administration.
  • Score analysis and targeted skill-building plans.
  • Pacing, time management, and test-day strategies.
  • Digital SAT platform familiarity and navigation.

ACT Prep:
  • ACT English.
  • ACT Math.
  • ACT Reading.
  • ACT Science.
  • ACT Writing (optional essay).
  • Full-length ACT diagnostic and practice test administration.
  • Score analysis and targeted skill-building plans.
  • Pacing, time management, and test-day strategies.
PSAT / PreACT Prep:
  • PSAT/NMSQT preparation (National Merit Scholarship qualifying).
  • PSAT 10 and PSAT 8/9 early preparation.
  • PreACT preparation.
  • Score interpretation and goal-setting for younger students.
Test Strategy and Score Optimization:
  • SAT vs. ACT comparison and test selection guidance.
  • Section-by-section strategy (when to skip, when to guess, how to pace).
  • Test anxiety management and confidence building.
  • Superscoring strategy and retake planning.
  • Score goal setting based on target colleges and admissions competitiveness.
Subject-Specific Test Prep Support:
  • Math-focused SAT/ACT prep for students who struggle primarily with quantitative sections.
  • Reading and writing-focused SAT/ACT prep for students who struggle primarily with verbal sections.
  • Science reasoning strategies for ACT Science.
  • Grammar and usage rules for SAT Writing and ACT English.
You do not need to tutor every section. If you specialize in SAT Math only, or ACT Science only, or PSAT/National Merit only, or anything in between, we want you on our team.

About SiSTEM:
SiSTEM is an academic guidance platform that builds personalized roadmaps for students in grades K–12. Every student on SiSTEM has a plan. Tutors are a key part of that plan and are matched to students based on specific needs, not random availability.

We started as a tutoring agency in Texas, grew to 300+ tutors serving 10,000+ students, and are now launching a platform that gives educators better tools, better-matched students, and the ability to build a real client base.

What You'll Do:
  • Work one-on-one with students to provide focused SAT and/or ACT preparation.
  • Diagnose strengths and weaknesses through practice tests and targeted assessments.
  • Build a personalized prep plan based on each student's starting score, target score, and timeline.
  • Teach test-taking strategies, pacing, and score optimization across all sections.
  • Help students build confidence and reduce test anxiety through structured practice.
  • Track score progress and adjust strategy as students improve.
  • Align your sessions with each student's broader academic roadmap through SiSTEM's planning tools.
  • Communicate with families on progress and projected score trajectories.
  • Maintain high standards of preparation and professionalism.

What We're Looking For:
We are selective about who joins the SiSTEM team.
Strong candidates typically have:
  • 3+ years of SAT/ACT tutoring or test prep instruction experience.
  • Proven results in helping students raise scores meaningfully (200+ point SAT improvement or 3+ point ACT improvement).
  • Deep familiarity with current SAT and ACT formats, question types, and scoring.
  • Experience working with motivated students and families with specific score targets.
  • Clear, patient communication and the ability to make test strategy feel manageable, not overwhelming.
  • Professional reliability.
Bonus: Tutors with personal high-score credentials (1500+ SAT or 34+ ACT), experience with the digital SAT format, National Merit coaching experience, background in college admissions advising, tutors who can coach both SAT and ACT and help families decide which test is the better fit.
Why Tutors Join SiSTEM:
  • You set your own rates. And you keep 100% of what you earn.
  • Matched with students who fit your expertise. No random assignments. Students are matched to you based on subject, test type, learning needs, and your teaching strengths.
  • Bring your current students with you. Already have clients? Add them to the platform for free. Use SiSTEM's tools to manage your existing students alongside new ones at no extra cost.
  • Families are already invested. SiSTEM parents are paying for a plan. They're engaged, responsive, and serious about their child's growth.
  • We handle the marketing. You don't have to find clients. We bring families to you.
  • Tools to manage your business. Scheduling, session tracking, and student relationship tools built into the platform.
  • Build a long-term client base. Students on SiSTEM stay for years, not weeks.
