About the Role

Are you a detail-oriented problem solver who thrives in a collaborative, mission-driven environment? Do you care deeply about educational access, inclusion, and empowering students to achieve their full potential?

As the SAS Program Administrator, you will serve as the operational backbone of our Student Accessibility Support (SAS) team. In this dynamic, hands-on role, you will wear many hats-from managing daily office operations and overseeing accessible technology resources to recruiting and mentoring a vibrant team of student workers. You will be a primary point of contact for students, families, faculty, and staff, ensuring that our campus accessibility programs run seamlessly every day.

Why You Will Love This Job

  • Make a Direct Impact: Your daily work directly supports equal access and inclusion for students with disabilities across the Brandeis community.
  • Lead and Mentor: Recruit, onboard, and supervise our awesome student employees, including Student Notetakers, Peer Accessibility Liaisons, and SAS Fellows.
  • Master Emerging Tech: Manage innovative assistive technology, accessible document software (like Kurzweil 3000), and digital loan programs.
  • Varied & Engaging Work: No two days are the same! Balance daily communications, student training sessions, event coordination, and administrative oversight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Communications & Office Operations (35%): Be the welcoming voice of SAS! Respond to inquiries, manage general office needs, and oversee broad student and community communications.
  • Student Staff Supervision (30%): Recruit, hire, train, and manage student workers (Notetakers, Alt-Text Editors, SAS Fellows) and oversee timecard processing.
  • Assistive Technology & Resources (10%): Manage the borrowing, maintenance, and setup of accessible tech, exam laptops, software licenses, and specialized furniture.
  • Training & Education (10%): Provide individual and group trainings on accessibility tools (e.g., Kurzweil 3000) and the creation/remediation of accessible documents.
  • Operational Support (15%): Assist with exam proctoring, event planning, departmental budget tracking, and document remediation as needed.

What We Are Looking For

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree (or equivalent), OR an Associate's degree with formal administrative training plus 3+ years of related work experience.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of progressive administrative, program support experience, or relevant internship and/or student work experience.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, strong organizational abilities, empathy, and sound judgment in handling confidential or non-routine situations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in higher education, student support, or working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Demonstrated expertise or strong interest in generating and remediating digital documents to meet accessibility standards.
  • Knowledge of assistive technology tools (e.g., Kurzweil 3000, Genio, smartpens)
