Job description

Job Summary:
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) is dedicated to improving educational outcomes for public-school students in Texas. The Senior Statistical Analysis System (SAS) Programmer will perform complex SAS programming and data analysis, manage data reporting for local educational agencies, and provide technical support for system development and quality control activities.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Serves as the quality control programmer for assigned RDA indicators: Performs highly complex SAS coding, testing, quality control, and debugging; and complete SAS code revisions and modifications needed to meet annual changes to monitoring indicators, methodologies, and procedures for the RDA project.
โ€ข Serves as the quality control programmer for assigned PBM Data Validation project(s): Performs complex SAS coding, testing, quality control, and debugging; and complete SAS code revisions and modifications needed to meet annual changes to monitoring indicators, methodologies, and procedures for Data Validation projects.
โ€ข Supports programming for research and data analysis projects: Serves as a quality control programmer for risk analysis indicators, ad hoc data requests , and research data runs by reviewing SAS code, logs, and outputs, as assigned.
โ€ข Customer service and support for technical questions about PBM projects: Provides customer service and technical support for school districts, schools, education service centers, the public, and other stakeholders related to PBM projects, in coordination with division communications efforts.
โ€ข Supports development of PBM team practices and maintain PBM web pages: Supports development of standards and procedures for PBM projects; prepares verification packets; reviews and provides comments on manuals and other technical documentation to ensure accuracy and clarity; and maintains and updates PBM web pages, including publishing manuals and releasing final products.
Qualifications:
Required:
โ€ข Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university
โ€ข At least three (3) years of experience in the analysis, design, and implementation of complex computer systems using the SAS programming language
โ€ข Share the belief that all Texas students can achieve at high levels and are able to succeed in college, career, or the military
โ€ข Knowledge of education data systems and data structures
โ€ข Ability to independently and accurately perform highly complex SAS programming, testing, quality control, and debugging.
โ€ข Demonstrates attention to detail in preparing and reviewing technical documentation.
โ€ข Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, results-oriented team environment
โ€ข Strong problem-solving skills to diagnose data issues or limitations and propose or implement appropriate solutions
โ€ข Ability to serve as a technical resource to a variety of stakeholders, including management, school districts and educators, and the public
โ€ข Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines across multiple concurrent projects
โ€ข Demonstrates a commitment to self-reflection, giving and receiving feedback, and continuous improvement
