Position Summary
The SAP TM Consultant provides expertise in the design, configuration, and optimization of SAP Transportation Management (TM) solutions. This role analyzes business requirements, delivers high-quality functional designs, collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration, and supports clients through testing, deployment, and ongoing operations. Consultants at this level work independently while also supporting and mentoring junior team members.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • Gathers and analyzes transportation management requirements and translates them into functional specifications.
  • Configures and customizes SAP TM capabilities including transportation planning, freight order management, carrier selection, tendering, and optimization.
  • Performs functional testing, resolves defects, and validates end-to-end TM functionality.
  • Develops user guides, configuration documentation, and training materials; delivers end-user and client training.
  • Collaborates with project managers, architects, developers, and functional teams to ensure seamless integration with ECC, S/4HANA, and related modules.
  • Provides timely support for TM issues related to configuration, data, and system behavior.
  • Supports system integration, data migration, and interface troubleshooting in partnership with technical teams.
  • Stays current on SAP TM enhancements, tools, and industry best practices.
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvement and optimization within transportation and logistics operations.
  • Mentors associate-level team members and contributes to knowledge sharing.
  • Travels up to 50% to support workshops, testing, implementation, and go-live activities.
  • Adheres to all certified processes and information security standards.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Logistics, Supply Chain, Transportation, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • SAP TM certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire).
  • Level I: 2+ years of SAP TM experience, including at least one full lifecycle implementation.
  • Hands-on experience configuring SAP TM functionalities such as planning, freight execution, carrier selection, and optimization.
  • Experience conducting functional testing and supporting QA activities.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and collaborate across diverse teams.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.

Nice to Have (Not Required)
  • Experience working with the Department of Defense or other federal agencies.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow.
  • Knowledge of SAP Activate or ASAP methodologies.
  • Experience integrating TM with ECC, S/4HANA, or other SAP modules.
  • Understanding of transportation management processes, logistics operations, and industry-specific requirements.
  • Experience supporting data migration, interface development, or system integration activities.
  • Exposure to continuous improvement or operational excellence initiatives.

Compensation: In accordance with pay transparency law, the expected salary range for this position is $75,000 - $100,000 annually. The actual compensation offered will be determined based on factors such as the candidate's experience, qualifications, skills, and location. We are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. This posted range reflects our good faith estimate of the compensation we reasonably expect to offer for this role at the time of posting.
