SAP Security Authorization roles are sets of permissions that control what actions users can perform and what data they can access within SAP systems. These roles are assigned to users to ensure that they can only access the functions and information necessary for their job, helping to maintain data security and compliance. Roles can be customized to fit the specific needs of an organization and are managed by SAP security administrators. Properly configuring authorization roles is critical for protecting sensitive business data and preventing unauthorized access.

What are some common challenges faced by SAP Security Authorization professionals when managing user access and roles?

One common issue is ensuring that users have the appropriate permissions for their job functions without granting excessive access, which can lead to segregation of duties (SoD) conflicts.
