Job Description:

Job Summary

Senior SAP Inventory Management (IM) functional expert with strong experience in SAP MM-IM processes and a deep understanding of the associated FI/CO financial postings. The consultant will be responsible for analyzing inventory processes, configuring/validating SAP IM transactions, troubleshooting inventory-related accounting postings, and working closely with MM, FI/CO and business teams.

Key Responsibilities

•             Provide functional expertise across SAP Inventory Management (IM) and related MM processes.

•             Analyze and support inventory transactions including:

o             Goods Receipt (GR)

o             Goods Issue (GI)

o             Stock Transfer / Transfer Posting

o             Inventory Adjustments

o             Movement Types

o             Physical Inventory

o             Returns

o             Subcontracting and consignment inventory, as applicable.

•             Understand and validate the FI accounting documents generated from inventory movements.

•             Analyze the relationship between material movements, valuation, and financial postings.

•             Troubleshoot issues involving:

o             Inventory / stock accounts

o             GR/IR

o             Consumption accounts

o             Price differences

o             Inventory valuation

o             COGS

o             Vendor/customer-related postings

o             Tax postings, where applicable.

•             Work with FI/CO teams to reconcile MM inventory balances with FI General Ledger balances.

•             Support investigation of discrepancies between material documents, accounting documents and GL postings.

•             Analyze financial impact of inventory transactions during business process changes and SAP implementations/upgrades.

•             Work with business stakeholders to understand current-state processes and recommend improvements.

•             Prepare functional specifications, process flows, configuration documentation and test scenarios.

•             Support SIT/UAT, defect resolution and deployment/Hypercare activities.

Required Skills

SAP IM / MM

•             Strong hands-on experience with SAP MM-IM / Inventory Management.

•             Deep knowledge of SAP movement types and inventory processes.

•             Experience with material valuation and inventory accounting.

•             Strong understanding of stock types and inventory statuses.

•             Experience with physical inventory processes.

FI/CO Integration

•             Strong understanding of MM–FI integration.

•             Hands-on experience troubleshooting accounting documents generated from MM transactions.

•             Understanding of standard vs. moving average price and their impact on financial postings.

•             Ability to trace a transaction from business process → material document → accounting document → GL account.
