Title: SAP FICO Support Specialist

Basic Company Info: Pharma/biotechnology company,

Location: 100% REMOTE but office location is in Boston MA if they are local and able to go in occasionally

SAP FICO Support Specialist (Part-Time, 20 hrs./week)

Overview

The SAP FICO Support Specialist will play a key role in defining technology standards, shaping long-term SAP roadmaps, and supporting critical business operations. This role blends strategic leadership with hands-on problem solving, ensuring the stability, integrity, and continuous improvement of the SAP landscape. The position is part-time (approximately 20 hours per week) and reports directly to SAP manager.

Key Responsibilities

Technology Strategy & Governance

  • Define and manage technology standards that align with overall IT goals and business strategy.
  • Develop and maintain technology roadmaps supporting both short- and long-term objectives.
  • Participate in and lead functional forums to drive alignment and knowledge sharing across teams.
  • Provide strategic and technical leadership for initiatives focused on continuous improvement

Project & Vendor Management

  • Plan, organize, and direct operational improvement projects, including capital project evaluation and execution.
  • Provide technical input for vendor selection and manage relationships with managed services and hosting partners.
  • Oversee external consultant contracts and budgets to ensure value and alignment with business needs.

SAP Landscape & Technical Support

  • Develop long-term plans for SAP systems, including upgrades, facility improvements, and troubleshooting processes.
  • Ensure integrity and functional consistency of the SAP landscape while coordinating with AMS, and hosting partners.
  • Troubleshoot SAP process issues to reduce downtime and maintenance costs.
  • Assist business departments in effective SAP usage and provide clear, actionable recommendations.
  • SOX, Compliance & Documentation
  • Support ITGC SOX compliance activities for a public-company environment, working directly with auditors.
  • Document processes, configuration changes, and proposals with clarity and structure.
  • Ensure adherence to compliance procedures across SAP-related workflows.
  • Troubleshoot user issues and provide hands-on support without requiring development work.
  • Work with business users to gather requirements, ask relevant questions, and understand testing impacts across the SAP landscape.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong SAP functional knowledge, especially in FICO and Materials Management/Purchasing.
  • Experience with Public Cloud environments and hands-on problem solving.
  • US SOX and ITGC experience in a public-company setting.
  • Ability to influence IT and business teams and resolve conflicts to reach shared goals.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and presentation skills, including senior-level communication.
  • Proven leadership and team-building abilities, including mentoring and coaching.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with a results-oriented mindset.
