We have a broad customer base with extensive product offerings. From routine daily-life to life-saving applications-we make a difference. Our broad scope of products and services keep our environment interesting and challenging with a culture focused on success.

Job Summary

The SAP Manager will serve as the company's primary point of contact and internal owner for SAP ECC 6. This role requires broad understanding of how ERP systems function across multiple business areas, how core SAP modules interact, and how upstream and downstream processes integrate. The SAP Manager will act as the liaison between business users, internal leadership, IT, Finance, Operations, and external SAP support partners to ensure SAP issues are properly prioritized, communicated, resolved, and documented.

Requirements

Essential Functions

  • The SAP Manager will be responsible for coordinating day-to-day SAP support across the company, with emphasis on direct SAP FICO functional support, strategic SAP governance, and cross-functional business relationship management. The role is expected to balance hands-on Finance support with enterprise-wide SAP ownership, issue triage, third-party coordination, and alignment of SAP capabilities with business objectives.
  • SAP FICO Leadership & Support (30%).
    • Provide hands-on leadership, design, configuration, and day-to-day support for SAP FICO solutions, including General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Asset Accounting (AA), Cost Center Accounting (CO), and Profitability Analysis (CO-PA). This role requires direct FICO functional support experience, including troubleshooting production issues, supporting business users, configuring solutions, and ensuring stable operation of critical finance processes. Partner closely with Finance and Controlling teams to translate business requirements into scalable, efficient SAP solutions. Lead and support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities within SAP, ensuring compliance, accurate financial reporting, and minimal system downtime. Serve as the primary escalation point for complex FICO-related issues and coordinate with internal teams and external partners to drive timely resolution.
  • Strategic Management & Governance (40%).
    • Act as the primary liaison between executive leadership, including the CFO and CIO, business stakeholders, IT teams, and external consulting partners. Provide both strategic direction and operational oversight for SAP Finance solutions. Oversee SAP system upgrades, enhancement packs, patch implementations, and support initiatives. Establish and enforce SAP best practices, data governance standards, security controls, and audit requirements. Ensure ongoing alignment between SAP capabilities and business objectives while maintaining a reliable and supportable ERP environment.
  • SAP Support, Integration & Business Relationship Management (30%)
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for all SAP-related questions, incidents, enhancement requests, and business process issues across the organization. Provide direct support for SAP FICO while maintaining a strong understanding of integrated processes across MM, SD, PP, and other modules to ensure seamless end-to-end business operations. Review and triage incoming tickets, assess business impact, determine resolution paths, and coordinate with third-party SAP support partners when specialized expertise is required.
    • Work closely with business users to understand issues, gather requirements, identify process gaps, and translate business needs into actionable SAP solutions and support requests. Manage ticket prioritization, track open issues, coordinate testing, validate resolutions, and ensure timely communication of status updates and next steps. Resolve cross-functional process and integration issues, oversee system enhancements, and evaluate the downstream financial and operational impacts of changes to ensure business continuity and system stability.

 Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintain ownership of SAP issue triage and escalation processes.
  • Serve as the liaison between the business and third-party SAP support provider.
  • Support Finance-related SAP activities as needed, including coordination around key close and reporting periods.
  • Coordinate SAP support across Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, Sales, and other business areas as needed.
  • Document recurring SAP issues, resolutions, workarounds, process gaps, and escalation procedures.
  • Monitor open SAP tickets and ensure timely resolution based on business priority.
  • Assist with SAP testing for fixes, enhancements, upgrades, interfaces, and process changes.
  • Partner with business and functional leaders to improve SAP processes, resolve cross-functional issues, and reduce recurring problems.
  • Coordinate SAP reporting needs, including standard reports, custom reports, variants, and data extracts.
  • Ensure proper documentation of SAP processes, controls, access changes, and support procedures.
  • Support audit requests related to SAP transactions, user access, change activity, and financial reporting.
  • Work with third-party SAP consultants to ensure business requirements are clearly communicated and delivered.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong hands-on experience with SAP ECC 6.
  • At least 5 years of experience providing functional support
  • Broad SAP or ERP background with understanding of how key business functions and modules work together.
  • Experience supporting business processes within an ERP environment, including understanding of module dependencies, transaction flow, reporting, and integrations.
  • Ability to triage SAP issues across multiple business areas and understand downstream impacts across modules and integrated processes.
  • Experience managing SAP tickets, user support, issue resolution, and third-party escalations.
  • Understanding of SAP user roles and responsibilities
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work with both technical and non-technical users.
  • Ability to translate business issues into clear SAP support requirements.
  • Working knowledge of Finance processes in SAP sufficient to coordinate support and business needs, without requiring deep specialization in Finance alone.
  • Strong documentation, follow-up, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Experience working as the sole or primary SAP point of contact within an organization.
  • Experience coordinating with external SAP support providers or managed service partners.
  • Knowledge of SAP security, access controls, and segregation of duties concepts.
  • Experience with SAP interfaces, batch jobs, reporting, and recurring production support issues.
  • Prior experience in manufacturing, distribution, or a similar SAP-enabled business environment.

Key Success Factors

The successful candidate must be comfortable being the internal owner of SAP support, especially in a lean environment where this role is the central point of coordination. This person should bring a broad understanding of ERP processes, how modules interact, and how business issues in one area can affect others. Strong coordination, communication, prioritization, and business process understanding are more important than deep specialization in a single module, though working knowledge of Finance processes remains important.
