SAP S/4HANA Data Migration Lead Consultant
We are seeking a highly skilled SAP S/4HANA Data Migration Lead Consultant to lead and manage the end-to-end data migration workstream for SAP S/4HANA transformation programs. This role is responsible for defining migration strategies, overseeing data quality and governance activities, and ensuring the successful migration of master, transactional, and historical data from legacy systems into SAP S/4HANA.
The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in SAP data structures, migration methodologies, and SAP data migration tools, with experience delivering large-scale ERP transformation initiatives. The consultant will work closely with business stakeholders, functional teams, solution architects, integration teams, and data owners to ensure data readiness and successful deployment.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the end-to-end SAP S/4HANA data migration workstream, including planning, design, execution, testing, mock conversions, cutover, and go-live support.
• Collaborate with business and functional teams to understand data requirements and develop migration strategies aligned with S/4HANA business processes.
• Define and execute data migration activities including data discovery, profiling, cleansing, transformation, validation, reconciliation, and loading.
• Conduct workshops with business and process owners to define data migration scope, source-to-target mapping, business rules, transformation requirements, and data governance standards.
• Oversee the identification, extraction, cleansing, mapping, and migration of: Master Data (Customer, Vendor, Business Partner, Material, GL Account, Cost Center, Profit Center, Asset, Pricing, and more), Transactional Data (Open Sales Orders, Purchase Orders, Projects, Contracts, Financial Balances, AR/AP Open Items, and others), Historical and Reference Data as required.
• Design and implement data migration solutions using SAP migration tools such as: SAP S/4HANA Migration Cockpit, SAP Data Services, SAP BTP Integration and Data Services, and ETL and data transformation tools
• Develop and maintain data mapping specifications, transformation rules, reconciliation reports, and migration runbooks.
• Validate migrated data through mock conversions, testing cycles, and business sign-offs.
• Work closely with SAP functional leads to ensure alignment between migration design and target S/4HANA processes.
• Manage data quality risks, issue resolution, defect tracking, and governance activities throughout the project lifecycle.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams to support migration testing, cutover planning, deployment, and hypercare activities.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation including Data Migration Strategy, Data Migration Design Documents, Source-to-Target Mapping Documents, Data Quality Assessment Reports, Data Reconciliation Reports, Cutover and Conversion Plans; provide regular status updates, risk assessments, and recommendations to project leadership and business stakeholders.
• Act with integrity, professionalism, and personal responsibility to uphold KPMG's respectful and courteous work environment
Qualifications:
• Minimum eight years of recent experience in ERP data migration and data transformation projects.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, information technology, information systems, data management, or a related field.
• Minimum five years of SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA data migration experience.
• Proven experience delivering end-to-end SAP S/4HANA data migration workstreams for large transformation programs.
• Solid experience leading offshore and onshore migration teams.
• Proven experience supporting multiple mock conversions, dress rehearsals, and production cutovers.
Technical Skills
• Strong understanding of SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA data models.
• Deep knowledge of SAP master and transactional data objects.
• Hands-on experience with: SAP Migration Cockpit, SAP Data Services SAP BTP Integration Services, ETL tools and data transformation frameworks, data quality and reconciliation processes
• Strong understanding of SAP business processes across Finance (Record-to-Report), Procure-to-Pay, Order-to-Cash, Project Systems / Professional Services, Asset Management
• Experience with data governance, data quality, and master data management practices.
Soft Skills
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
