Job Description:

The Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) is an organization of approximately 2,000 personnel of which 700 serve at HQ and the remaining staff serve at offices worldwide. NCIS is the DON component with primary responsibility for criminal investigation, law enforcement (LE), counterterrorism (CT), counterintelligence (CI), and cyber matters. NCIS not only has primary responsibility for all criminal investigative, CI, CT, and cyber matters within the DON, but it also has exclusive investigative jurisdiction in non-combat matters involving actual, potential, or suspected criminal, terrorism, sabotage, espionage and subversive activities.

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT

As a Business Objects Administrator, the work you'll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of the IT Technology Operations division within the NCIS ITD organization in Quantico, VA:

  • Performs complex analysis, design, development, testing, and debugging of computer software ranging from operating system architecture integration and software design to selection of computer systems, language, and/or equipment

  • Performs operating system, application, and software upgrades/installations in accordance with security policy and compliance requirements.

  • Designs, codes, tests, develops, and documents critical and complex application programs for computer systems.

  • Works with users to define system scope and objectives and establish baselines

  • Establishes project standards and processes

  • Breaks down software requirements and creates highly complex systems.

  • Offers expertise in one or more technical disciplines - Oracle/SQL, Java, Visual Studio, ASP.NET, Business Objects

  • Provides direct technical support for high level, high visibility and critical trouble calls for supported applications.

  • Serves as subject matter expert for both customer and internal discussions related to maintaining and enhancing existing software systems.

  • Provides internal consulting, technical guidance, information, and support to other application developers, computer operations, workstation support, company management, and departmental clients

  • Prepares reports, briefings, or other media to support necessary tasks as well as to document daily activities

  • Collaborates with BAs and QA to develop and execute test plans

  • Maintains/troubleshoots legacy applications and maintains standards compliance

  • Collaborates with PMs, Users, and/or Business Analysts (BAs) to capture/evaluate requirements, consider alternatives, and establish timelines

  • Collaborates with DBAs, SAs, and/or BAs to design solutions and develop design artifacts

  • Codes, tests, debugs, documents, and maintains application code.

  • Provides recommendations to infuse new technology

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

Bring your development expertise along with a drive for innovation to GDIT. Our Business Objects Administratormust have:

  • Security Clearance Level: Active Top Secret clearance. {Must be SCI eligible}.

  • Required Experience: 10+ years of software development experience, basic coding and compilation, software architecture/design, user requirements definition and software specification development.

  • Experience with:

    • BusinessObjects Data Services 4.3 installation and patching

    • Data Services Repository Configuration

    • BusinessObjects Business Intelligence 4.3 installation and patching; role and service configuration.

    • SSL implementation and maintenance

    • Tomcat implementation and maintenance

    • Server health (e.g. memory requirements, logging)

    • Job Monitoring

  • Required Certifications: CompTIA Security+ CE

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in an Engineering related discipline; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree

  • Work Location: Hybrid: 3 days onsite in Quantico VA; 2 days remote.

  • Position Availability: This position is pending funding.

  • US Citizenship Required.

Preferred Skills:

  • Report development using BusinessObjects WebIntelligence (BOE 3.5 or BIP 4.1)

  • Universe development using BusinessObjects Universe Designer (BOE 3.5 or BIP 4.1)

  • Strong Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, query tuning and DDL (11g or 12c)

The likely salary range for this position is $147,292 - $199,278. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
