Job description

Job Title: SAP Basis – Production Support & Vulnerability Management
Location: Greensboro, NC 
Duration: Longterm Contract

Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced SAP Basis Software Engineer to join our Enterprise Production Support team supporting mission-critical SAP platforms within the banking environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in SAP Basis administration, production support, vulnerability remediation, system performance tuning, security compliance, and automation across complex SAP landscapes. This role requires working in a highly regulated financial environment, ensuring high availability, operational stability, and compliance with enterprise security standards while supporting 24x7 production operations.

Key Responsibilities
Provide Level 2/Level 3 production support for SAP landscapes including development, QA, UAT, DR, and Production environments.
Perform SAP Basis administration activities including installation, configuration, upgrades, kernel upgrades, system refreshes, client copies, and patch management.
Monitor SAP application availability, performance, background jobs, transports, interfaces, and system health.
Troubleshoot SAP performance issues involving application servers, databases, operating systems, and network components.
Manage SAP transport requests and coordinate production releases following enterprise change management processes.
Perform SAP system start/stop activities during planned maintenance windows.
Support disaster recovery testing and business continuity initiatives.
Participate in 24x7 on-call production support rotation.

SAP Vulnerability Management Responsibilities
Identify, assess, prioritize, and remediate SAP security vulnerabilities across enterprise SAP environments.
Apply SAP Security Notes, Kernel patches, Support Packages, and HotNews recommendations.
Coordinate vulnerability remediation activities with Infrastructure, Cyber Security, Risk, and Application teams.
Perform SAP system hardening following banking security standards.
Conduct regular vulnerability scans using enterprise security tools.
Validate remediation through re-scans and compliance reporting.
Support security audits and regulatory examinations.
Maintain compliance with enterprise patching SLAs and vulnerability remediation timelines.

Maintain secure RFC connections, trusted systems, certificates, and encryption.
Support SAP GRC integration.
Review SAP authorization concepts and collaborate with SAP Security teams.
Assist with SOX, PCI-DSS, FFIEC, and internal banking compliance requirements.
Support audit evidence collection and remediation activities.

Experience implementing SAP Security Notes and vulnerability remediation.
Knowledge of ITIL Incident, Problem, Change, and Release Management.
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
