Sanitation Lead - Food Manufacturing (Leadership Opportunity) What You'll Do As the Sanitation Lead, you'll lead by example while supervising and developing a team of sanitation technicians. You'll partner closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Warehouse teams to ensure every corner of the facility meets the highest safety and regulatory standards.
Your key responsibilities include: - Lead & Develop Your Team
- Coach, train, and mentor sanitation technicians on best practices, safety, and chemical handling
- Assign daily workloads and ensure tasks are completed thoroughly and on time
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
- Drive Food Safety & Compliance
- Enforce GMPs, Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), and food safety protocols
- Conduct sanitation audits and quickly resolve any gaps
- Partner with Quality to implement innovative procedures and improve sanitation effectiveness
- Ensure Operational Excellence
- Coordinate sanitation activities across departments to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency
- Oversee cleaning and sanitizing of production equipment, processing areas, and warehouse spaces
- Maintain the Master Sanitation Schedule and all related documentation
- Manage Equipment & Supplies
- Monitor and maintain sanitation and chemical equipment, including proportioning systems
- Ensure proper chemical usage, storage, and documentation
- Track inventory and proactively communicate supply needs
- Stay Hands-On
- Perform sanitation tasks when needed, including equipment teardown, cleaning, and inspection
- Conduct routine area assessments to ensure a safe and organized workplace
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and communicate recommendations to leadership
What You Bring - High School Diploma or equivalent required
- 1+ year of experience as a Sanitation Lead (2-3 years preferred) in manufacturing or production
- Food industry experience with a strong understanding of food safety and quality standards is a plus
- Knowledge of chemical handling and control processes
- Comfort working with sanitation and analytical equipment
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- A proactive, detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to safety and excellence
Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bolingbrook, IL.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
