What is sandblasting?

Sandblasters work in industries such as construction, automotive, and manufacturing to remove rust, paint, or contaminants from metal, concrete, or wood. The job requires protective gear and safety precautions due to the high-speed abrasives. Skilled sandblasters must understand different blasting techniques and materials for various surfaces.

What skills and qualifications are needed for sandblasting?

To thrive in sandblasting, you need strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a good understanding of safety procedures, often supported by a high school diploma or relevant vocational training. Familiarity with sandblasting equipment, protective gear, and OSHA safety standards is essential, and some positions may require certifications for hazardous material handling. Physical stamina, teamwork, and strong communication skills help individuals excel in this hands-on environment.
