Zolman's Best One Fleet Service South Bend - Seeking a full-time Commercial Tire Technician

Locally owned and operated, Zolman Tire, Inc. has serviced the automotive & commercial truck repair, tire, and wheel needs of customers throughout the Michiana area since 1978. Over the years we have expanded into nine retail locations in Mishawaka, IN, Granger, IN, South Bend, IN, Niles, MI, Portage, MI, and Kalamazoo, MI and five commercial fleet service locations in Mishawaka, IN, South Bend, IN, Galesburg, MI, Benton Harbor, MI, and Jackson, MI. We are proud partners of Best One Tire and are a Bridgestone-Firestone-Bandag Tire Dealer

 
 

We are seeking qualified commercial tire technicians for our South Bend location who values safety and teamwork. Techs will be responsible for removing, installing, rotating, balancing, and performing flat repairs on commercial and large equipment tires (in shop or at customer location). Hours requirements are 8a-5p M-F, with willingness to work overtime as needed. Essential Functions:

Remove, install, rotate, balance, and perform flat repairs on commercial and large equipment tires (in shop or at customer location), performed per TIA Commercial guidelines

Safely separate and reassemble tires onto wheels, using specialized equipment 

Inspect casings for defects 

Locate and seal tire punctures (patch and plug) 

Prepare rims and wheel drums for reassembly by scraping, grinding or sandblasting 

Inspect vehicles using inspection forms and report potential repairs to supervisor 

Perform basic maintenance and repair 

Drive service truck to customer locations and perform tire service on site if needed 

Raise and lower vehicles safely, with hydraulic or air operated floor jacks 

Safely operate all shop machinery, including but not limited to safety cages, tire spreaders, tire changers, tire balancers, floor jacks or lifts, air powered tools, torque wrench and/or torque sticks

Operate and maintain diagnostic equipment Safely operate all service truck machinery, including but not limited to: all shop machinery, boom and hook 

Read work orders thoroughly and perform all listed tasks 

Perform general housekeeping duties 

Perform other duties as assigned

Physical Demands / Work Environment: 

Lifting: Frequent lifting over 50 pounds from ground to chest high.

Skills & Abilities:

Education: 

High school graduate or general education degree (GED) 


Experience: 

1-2 years' experience in passenger or commercial tire repair   


Certifications/Licenses: 

Valid driver's license; driving record must meet company's insurance requirements 

Ability to obtain/maintain a DOT physical (for service trucks)

TIA Commercial 200 Level (company can provide) 

Ongoing training is required per company's standards 


Computer: 

Able to operate TPMS programming tools, write emails, and use company apps as needed
