Job description

Connect Staffing is hiring a Sandblaster Operator for a powder coating company in Santa Ana, CA. This is a temp-to-hire evening position paying $22.00/hr. In this role, you will operate a manual sandblasting hose inside a sealed booth to clean and prepare metal parts for powder coating, masking off designated areas per work orders and blasting surfaces to achieve the proper surface profile for coating adhesion. Saturdays are required on top of the Monday-Friday schedule, and overtime is available as needed.
Pay: $22.00/hr
Schedule: Monday-Friday 3:00 PM-11:30 PM; must be available Saturdays
Location: Santa Ana, CA

Responsibilities

  • Work inside a sealed sandblasting booth wearing full protective gear and a respirator in compliance with abrasive blasting safety regulations.
  • Review work orders and mask off designated areas to protect sensitive surfaces from unwanted blasting.
  • Blast metal surfaces using specified abrasive media, maintaining consistent coverage across the entire part.
  • Inspect blasted surfaces to confirm surface profile meets powder coating adhesion standards.
  • Perform routine checks on air supply lines, respirator filters, and dust collection units to keep equipment operational.
Minimum Requirements
  • 6+ months of recent hands-on sandblasting experience using a manual hose or gun.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a powder coating, metal finishing, or industrial painting environment.
  • Familiarity with abrasive media types (aluminum oxide, steel grit, glass bead) and their surface profile outcomes.
  • Experience reading and following work orders for masking and surface prep specifications.
  • Comfort working in full personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods inside an enclosed booth.
  • Experience performing basic maintenance on blasting equipment, dust collectors, and air supply systems.
