Title of Position: Maintenance/Dredge Operatorย ย Location: Franklin, NJ

Pay Range:ย $27.51 - $44.00 (this is based on previous or relevant quarry/maintenance mechanic experience)

Shift: 2nd Shift- 2:00pm-10:00pm (This role may require shifts of up to 12 hours, based on workload demands)

So what does a Maintenance/Dredge Operator do? You'll be an integral part of our sand mine operations!

  • Clears, grubs, strips, excavates, backfills, ditches, stockpiles and pushes various types of material found at a quarry.
  • Constructs berms, excavates and grades to final grade.
  • Loads sand and sometimes small stone from a stockpile to a truck and/or train car.
  • Must be able to estimate load size for a vehicle and not over or under load a truck.
  • Must be able to load a truck without creating spillage.
  • Must do general cleanup around all areas.
  • Perform a daily heavy equipment walk-around inspection and preventive maintenance responsibilities.
  • Diagnose and repair plant issues
  • Welding and fabrication
  • Operate and maintain the dredge
  • Perform other work as assigned when not engaged in operating equipment including labor and general maintenance of all areas of the mine as needed.

Qualifications

  • Valid Driver's License.
  • At least one year operating heavy equipment required.
  • Can work 2 p.m. - 10 p.m. shift or as needed. Changes in schedule may arise with operations.
  • Can work Saturdays as needed.
  • Prior experience running a dredge highly preferred. Willingness to train required.
  • Mechanical/maintenance skills required.
  • Experience operating a loader required, experience operating a skid steer, dozer, excavator, and/or haul truck highly preferred.
  • Experience running a dredge highly preferred but not required.
  • Education from a technical school in a related field preferred (welding, electrical, maintenance etc.) preferred.
  • Welding experience a plus, particularly in mig, stick, and overhead.
  • Quarry/mining experience a plus but not required.
  • Knowledge of the common reasons for mechanical failure and the steps necessary to correct malfunctioning on different types of motors/machinery.
  • Knowledge and experience with safety regulations, i.e. OSHA, MSHA, as they apply to the operation a plus but not required.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Possesses a sense of urgency and ownership to complete assignments/projects through to completion.
  • Ability to respond with flexibility and efficiency to frequent changes in task focus, competing priorities, and multiple deadlines.
  • Available to work most Saturdays, 10-14 hour shifts, outdoors in all weather, and comfortable with heights.

Working Conditions:

  • Able to work extended hours as needed
  • Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and working outdoors
  • Must wear protective equipment while at the location

Physical Requirements

  • Requires stationary position, traverse, move, transport, and the ability to significant degree to operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect, or position
  • Must be able to work at heights; climb stairs, ladders, and silos
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently
  • Requires Concrete chipping, shoveling, sweeping and greasing of plant equipment
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with employees and other individuals as well as function safely within an office environment and, on occasion, may visit industrial plant locations
  • Requires stationary position, traverse, move, transport, and the ability to significant degree to operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect, or position
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with employees and other individuals as well as function safely within an office environment and plant locations
  • Must be able to work at heights; climb stairs, ladders, and silos
